Why do we, the users, have to go through all the hassle to remove something we hate and never asked for, and yet Microsoft, in all their infinite wisdom, can just add it without permission? MICROSOFT: Get a clue! We do not want your ****! We do NOT want to be force fed, just because you believe it is what everyone wants. You should have given people a choice! If you actually cared one iota about your customers, you would give them options instead of force feeding them over and over and over and over. Why do we always have to clean up your mess?

I have Revo Uninstaller which is a great solution for removing programs and their registry entries. It did not remove Copilot. I tried other suggestions using regedit and those did not work. I have microsoft 365 with Word. Not much help anywhere. I do not think it can be removed.

After wasting hours and almost ready to give up I was able to prevent Word from invoking Copilot every time I opened Word.

    1. open Word 2) in the lower left are Account and Options, click Options 3) select Copilot 4) under "Options for working with Copilot in Word" check the box to disable Copilot. Copilot can be enabled from here in the same way.

Open Word and Copilot did not get invoked. The Copilot symbol in the task bar is now greyed out. Copilot remains on my computer.

As an aside, Microsoft continues to install more garbage called Microsoft Edge which cannot be stopped. Revo Uninstaller will get rid of it quickly. Microsoft sucks. Unfortunately, I use programs to write software and they are only available on MS. Microsoft is used everywhere and can never be secure and requires constant updates to block the newly discovered holes in the OS. We are all stuck in the same boat.

    Good luck

Thank you Bill Gates who claims to have an IQ of 160. Unfortunately he forgot the decimal point.

I don't even use microsoft Edge as my browser. As I play games and I wonder what the copilot voice will do as I have a speech impediment.

Will be changing from Microsoft as the extra work and problems being experienced with AI are bottom of the sewer line.
