Monitor settings randomly change

I've been experiencing an issue with my Philips monitor where the SmartImage feature unpredictably switches to "Racing" mode on its own. Despite manually disabling this setting, it often reactivates itself multiple times until it finally remains off, only to recur upon restarting my PC or monitor. This problem emerged just last week, despite my having used this new PC and monitor setup for nearly a year without any similar issues. I've meticulously reviewed most of the accessible settings without identifying any that could be causing this behavior. Additionally, I've explored the monitor's on-screen menu but found nothing that explains the automatic switch to "Racing" mode, leading me to suspect it might be related to a setting on my PC. However, I've yet to pinpoint exactly what could be triggering this. If anyone has insights or suggestions on how to resolve this, your advice would be immensely valuable.     Thanks Huub van Baal,

    I found an optional Windows update 1.68.3815.0 which seems to have fixed it on my Windows 10 PC and Philips PHL226E9Q monitor. I can now turn off SmartImage and it stays off, at last!

    Just curious what happens when you reinstall HP One Agent along side the optional update "HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.68.3814.0". I have once stopped the HP One Agent and in my memory the 'racing mode' problem stayed. After installing this optional update on June 28th the 'racing mode' issue is gone on my system which runs HP One Agent.

    The solution seems temporary as the HP software (presumably) re-created the original telemetry directory and the monitor racing has resumed. I renamed the directory (again), and that seemed to fix the issue. The point here is that even if we rename the directory, it will eventually be recreated by HP. This occurred without a restart, which means it was likely either a live update or a timed re-spawning of the directory.

    A more permanent fix would be creating a new empty telemetry directory and setting permissions preventing Windows or other apps from writing to it. If anyone knows how to do this, please post back.
