My printer is prompted to print this at the top of pages, usually from drawer #2 which is envelopes. I have an Epson WF-4740. The information on line indicates that this is an across the board problem. I have contacted Epson and they say it is a Microsoft problem. To date I have tried every suggested fix but nothing stops it. Extremely frustrating!!!!

End.

I am not sure what has happened but the odd message has stopped on my Epson printer. I set up today to test some conditions but wanted to start from scratch.

I booted my Dell Inspiron 16 2 in 1 running Windows 11, connected "directly" to the internet. I say "directly" because the RS 232 cable is connected to a USB connector. So it's not truly a direct connect but close. I printed a document and left the printer on. Unlike previous experiences, the physical "on" light on the printer remained steady. In the past, after a few minutes, that light would start blinking and the printer would start making noises.

After more than 30 minutes and NOT clicking on the check mark, the printer remained silent and the "on" light solid. I tried printing another document and it was successful!

Now I am stumped. I have not updated my printer driver but cannot remember if my O/S was updated recently. The only logical explanation I have is that Microsoft has corrected its problem quietly.

The only other change was that today I was using a USB 3.0 dongle versus a 2.0 dongle. That should not matter at all. The difference there is purported to be transfer speed. I will test on my Surface Pro but suspect that will now be ok too.

Hi Mary...Thank you for suggestion(s). I truly wish Microsoft was as caring as you are. Unfortunately, my HP Printer Laser Jet M553 does not have "Check Mark" on its control panel.

Thanks for the clarification. My pc is connected directly to the internet, my preference for performance and security. I will test the USB variation you mentioned in an earlier post and see if it makes a difference on the Epson 4100. I also have an Epson XP 6000 that has the same problem. At my daughter's university, where she is a professor, the pcs are connected directly to the internet with a USB adapter. There are multiple types of printers there and they all have this problem.

My 4100 printer is the default so, for me, that doesn't solve the problem.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I did not mean that this problem occurs when the printer wakes from standby - it occurs when the computer waked from standby.

I think I have now finally resolved my problem...

I have 2 printers attached to my computer via USB leads- an HP Laserjet which I use the most and so have it set as my default printer and have had no problems with and an Epson XP-900 which was the one which was continuously printing this silly message ever since the WIN 11 upgrade.

On the advice from another forum I set my Epson XP-900 as the default printer and so far the problem has stopped altogether! The old HP Laserjet hasn't yet started printing the status message so I think its all resolved.

I just need to remember not to print to the Epson colour printer when I only need black and white etc but I guess I will get used to that.

I have temporally fixed the problem by removing the USB connection & printing via WiFi. Every page is now clean & the printer is running as it should. USB issue ?????
