Hello,

I have been plagued by countless annoying random game crashes the past months with my pc with all pointing out to this error (from event viewer) when they occur: "The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event: 

\Device\00000092

Reset TDR occurred on GPUID:100

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table"

Have tried numerous possible solutions already from forums, but with no luck.. Fortnite and many other games crash after random intervals. Can anyone suggest a solution for this?

My specs are the following:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz

Installed RAM G-SKILL F4 3200-C16 32,0 GB DDR4

GPU EVGA GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0

Drives Patriot M.2 P300 512GB and Seagate Hybrid HDD 4TB

Motherboard GIGABYTE H510M H V2

Microsoft Windows 11 Professional (x64) Build 22631.3593 (23H2)

Have to note that i recently replaced almost all parts from the pc due to a previous motherboard burnout which killed many components, expect the PSU (which was repaired by the technician) and GPU (which the technician said was saved from the burnout) and the Hybrid HDD (have this HDD since 2016). Apart from this, i restored my windows partition through Macrium Reflect image backup (from the Hybrid HHD saved backup).

Thanks in advance for any possible solutions to this, if any!

    So, I have tried again using DDU in safe mode, but also, I have manually removed every Nvidia folder from the system, including the ones in the User folder AppData>Local. After that, I performed a clean install to the latest version 560.70. Before I installed this version, Windows 11 installed automatically the driver version 537.34. Finally, I have removed GPU Tweak, as for some reasons, sometimes is not showing me any information about the stats using OSD, only 0%.

    Since then I have been playing all the games that crashed before, as OW2, and most recent games as Flintlock and The Fist Descendant without any crashes or missing drivers messages with sessions higher than 3 hours.

    I'll keep testing it to see if everything is going fine....

    I hardly believe it's an hardware issue. It has to be a software conflict triggered by either Microsoft, ASUS or NVIDIA. If it was an hardware problem, my GPU would've failed on every game, suffer on performance loss and show artifcats. (Which is not the case for me)

    I've had a flickering screen when playing games on my laptop. I wasted months trying to find for a solution and contact Intel Support, but after playing around with the Intel Command settings I was able to completely fix the issue.

    What I just said might not make sense for an IT specialist, but I am sure that this problem is triggered by a software. My graphics card works as it did almost 3 years ago. The only problem is the random "nvlddmkm" crash, which started for me since 2023. And who should be responsible for all this? The tech-companies who are shoving unstable driver updates, BIOS updates and all sorts of stuff into our computers and damage them.

    I've tested my ram in memtest86 and all are good. I tested both a 1080ti and a 4070ti Super in an old system and had zero issues. In this system my cards were directly on the MB.

    In the system where I am experiencing all these issues the GPU is connected via riser cable which folks have indicated may be the issue. I have not been able to resolve with clean windows installs, BIOs updates, hardware resetting and double/triple checking, DDU and Driver updates or rollbacks.

    Nothing removes the errors completely.

    My gpu is Gigabyte 4090 and same issue happening to me. It started sometime after Memorial Day. Has anyone tried reinstalling Windows? And if so, did that work?

    This usually happens when waking the computer from sleep. What's interesting is when the computer does finally respond and I log in, it tells me that my default audio needs to be set, suggesting the NVidia audio to my monitor. I don't use that audio output. It also beeps like something is being plugged in.. my monitor perhaps? Almost like it loses the connection to my monitor during the hangup and when it comes to, it sees it again. Not sure how it fiddles with the audio. Maybe the issue makes the NVidia audio go away as well somehow resetting the existing default to my speakers.

    Hello, any updates? I also had this error once so far. I was having short freezes for few weeks during watching streams or YouTube I think could be related to this very exact nvlddmkm error. Video freezes for few seconds but the sounds continue and then fixes alone. But yday i had first very scary issue. While watching stream without having game or anything open, just Chrome and HWMonitor the Chrome freezed and screen goes black. After seconds it restored but i opened event viewer and saw nvlddmkm error. My GPU is half year old RTX 4060Ti AERO 16gb. Now im scared if is GPU hardware failure.

    What I did is to roll back to 537.58 after DDU in safe mode. Previously, when problem started i was using latest drivers. I noticed that this video freezes started from last 2 versions. So i have small hope to be driver bug. But still worried about my GPU. Btw in games i haven't had problems. Only when watching. Now i need few days to test , too early to say if this old driver solved the problem

    Last thing, my temps are fine reaching 75c hotspot in Cyberpunk. When idle while watching streams is 40ish, under 50c for sure
