The most recent Windows 10 updates stop my Roland GX24 cutter from working.

Is anyone aware that this is happening?

An issue caused by a recent Windows security update (version KB5039211) has disrupted communication between some Roland DGA drivers and their connected devices, primarily affecting cutters and engravers. As a temporary solution, Roland Care advises uninstalling this specific Windows update.

To uninstall the updates,

a. Go to Settings.

b. Select Windows Update and Security.

c. Select Update history.

d. Click Uninstall updates.

e. select the update installed - "Double-Click “Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5039211)”

f. Click on “Yes” to uninstall.

g. Once uninstalled, restart your computer.

    Hello

    Same thing for us,

    We have windows 10 entreprise.,.. The update security kb5039886

    It does the same thing at home, we have a Roland Camm GR540 cutter. The update makes the cutter start and stop after a few seconds.

    This is verified because I had to remove the update at each restart because it installs itself. We can no longer close the computers.

    We managed to uninstall on the W10 machines and have scheduled the update suspension deadline. But on W11 we can't remove the deadly update.

    I think this update is worse than a ransomware. With the virus you can choose to pay and return to the old functionality.

    Not here.

    We are only seeing a shifting of responsibility between Roland and Microsoft. We paid for plotters and windows SO, but we can't use them. 

    Crazy.

    Geez, I would only do that as a last resort. That's a lot of work to make sure you reinstall everything and that all your other software will reinstall properly. But that's just me. Are you cutting vinyl? If so, maybe try to take it through cadworx. Upload it and cut it from there. It's free and it worked for another friend of mine. I've been in the screen printing business a looong time and have been helping several friends. It has continued to work for my cutter, it worked for two other friends' cutters, but one let his computer update again and now I have to go fix it again. Another updated and we haven't been able to do anything except the cadworx "fix" so far. I'm still looking for a different work-around. If I find something, I'll come back and post it.
