Why is my network messed up after update to windows 11 24H2

Hello, after updating win 11 23H2 to 24H2 several "computers" are disappeared under the "network"pane in windows explorer.

The day before updating, all computers were attached to my network and visible in windows file explorer.

After update to 24H2 they were gone!

I did see that after updating the option for media streaming were turned off.

I put The media streaming option on again, but that was not the solution.

    Very bad Microsoft product updates. The trend is going towards a Linux distro where I do not have such issues. Problem solved now.

    this is likely this issue as I did the same thing and it seems to have resolved the issue

    I connected to at least 4 MS techs about this issue and none of them had the slightest idea about how to troubleshoot this problem.

    it goes back to LAN support as far back as win 95 as far as networking on Windows and the current techs have no clue.

    One tech told me to forget it because it was merely a "legacy" issue

    "legacy"of the home networks. As I won't run a DC (domain controller) in a network with a NAS and a couple of PC's. DNS request are solved by my router. NETBIOS is used to detect devices when there's no DNS. Indeed, one of the earlier things used in the first networks, where there was no DC in simple corporate networks. But they can't expect a home user with a very limited network to setup a DC.

    It is strange when you got your settings right in Windows 10 and upgrade to Windows 11, you ought to figure out what went suddenly wrong.
    Then most helpdesks (not only Microsoft) are populated with a couple of unexperienced people, reading a couple of scenario's from their charts. Then you get that kind of answers.

    I found the same: all appears to be ok, but not working. Remote Desktop doesn't work either. Other computers on network are fine, only the Windows 11 machine, after this fateful update, is not working.

    Whooops! Suddenly all's fine!

    There's an hour of my life I wont get back though ..

    I got same problem recently.

    From command prompt, run following command.

    Get-NetConnectionProfile

    Then confirm if NetworkCategory is private. If public, let me know!

    PS C:\Users\HGDx2k> Get-NetConnectionProfile

    Name : Unidentified network
    InterfaceAlias : Lucky7
    InterfaceIndex : 22
    NetworkCategory : Private <== Here!
    DomainAuthenticationKind : None
    IPv4Connectivity : LocalNetwork
    IPv6Connectivity : NoTraffic
