Hey, I have a question about windows Update, is there anyway to stay on 23h2 but still get security updates without upgrading to 24h2 automatically I just have updates pauzed for now but I still want security patches, I've heard there have been a lot of issues on 24h2 so thought id ask. Also other updates just not 24H2

Yup. We're in the same boat.
Pause Windows update doesn't work.
We've had to restore 20 computers as many as 2 times per week to keep a particular version of software working, that the developer "can't seem to find the issue, and no one else is having the issue".
I decided some time ago that Windows isn't the way forward for me. Most of my computers are running Linux/Ubuntu.
My main laptop, on which I'm typing this, is W11 and although I had updates paused, it's now constantly pecking my head to install 24H2.
Next time I reboot it'll be in. I don't want it, I didn't ask for it and it offers no features I need or care for. So this too will be a Linux machine soon. Just waiting for a new SSD so I can clean install and throw this Windows installation in a draw somewhere until I'm sure I left nothing useful on it.
Several weeks ago I had this update and it was total FUBAR. I went back to previous and put my updates on pause. Today, even though i was still on pause, they did it to me again. I thought i "went back" again afterwards but now it shows installed and i cant "go back". Several of my apps wont even start now. If MS got charged for all the hours they make customers do unnecessary work they would be bankrupt. I may try a some restore points or even a full system reinstall soon. Unbelievably disappointed with MS.
For all those that say "just don't click the red stuff" etc. How many of you can trust all your users not to do it anyway?
I had the same thing happen today - got the "24H2 will install when you restart" message and I didn't want to install it due to some audio/mic issues on another computer (24H2) that were not occurring on my computer (23H2). I clicked on the "Pause updates" drop-down and changed it from 1 week to 5 weeks and then my computer showed a spinner for a long time on the Windows Update setting screen, then eventually told me I would not receive updates until late February (in 5 weeks). So seems like changing the "Pause updates" drop-down will roll the 24H2 update back and buy you some time if MS has already cued it for restart.
