Problem in network Windows 11 24h2

After updating to the new Windows 11h2, some machines experienced network issues with both cable and Wi-Fi. They connect but don’t get network access and receive an IP address starting with 169…, resulting in no internet or network connection. I updated drivers, firmware, and reset the network settings. The machines’ MAC addresses haven’t changed. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

    5. Set Up a Static IP Address

    Assign a static IP address manually.

    Note: I had issues pinging the gateway address even with a correct static IP during this step, but I continued with the next steps.

    When you did the manual settings, you must set valid values for:

    1. IP-address
    2. Netmask
    3. Gateway

    Did you do all three?

    Probably, since you did not disable the DHCP service, you should have skipped this step.

    Anyone with network issues after the Windows 11 24H2 update. If your on your own private network without any login credentials needed for sharing try using this as a fix.

    1.      Select Start, type gpedit.msc, and select Edit group policy.

    1. In the left pane under Local Computer Policy, navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Lanman Workstation.
    2. Open Enable insecure guest logons, select Enabled, then select OK.

    24H2 has a modification that they did not bother to publish. It affected my NAS When I did the upgrade to 24H2, my networked devices would not respond properly.

    The SMB communication utility got left off of the upgrade package. A computer repair friend of mine told me about it. The fix is to turn on the SMB communications protocol in windows features for all machines and NAS units that are involve and the issue goes away.
