Win 11 ver. 24H2 causing Brother scanning driver install to fail. How to fix?

Hi All,

I have a Brother DCP-7065DN multi-function machine, connected to my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was having some problems with a label printer and pursuant to that I disinstalled the Brother software and re-installed it. Since the re-install, the Brother printer driver installed but the scanner driver installation failed. I've tried multiple times.

Brother has noted this as a problem with Windows 11 Version 24H2. (See attached link.)

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks.

    Hi Sarah,

I noticed that there is indeed software for your unit. https://www.brother.is/support/ads-1800w/downloads If you follow my instructions in the previous post I am quite sure your scanner will work. Remember though to first uninstall all other instances of this scanner in Settings, Devices first to ensure that you do not have multiple instances of the device. Also, you may have some system files that are possibly corrupted, run from admin terminal sfc /scannow and confirm that your system is not corrupted. Also confirm you have all windows updates completed.

I have since posting installed at least 3 other Brother printer models for various customers and it definitely works

Hi Patrick, I know that Brother has issued tis warning, I was one of the first people to reach out to Brother and Microsoft regarding this issue. Brother claims it is a Microsoft problem. Microsoft claims its fixed as of recent updates but the driver install still fails. The only difference now that Microsoft has released updates is that the device is now registered in Device Manager and can now be successfully installed albeit manually. Prior to the updates installation was impossible.

I tried this, it worked once. If I try to scan another document it will put all of the documents, scanned at different times because they are separate things to be scanned in the file for the previous scan. Not helpful because I need the documents in separate files because they go with something else. Not sure I'm making sense. So many issues with Microsoft. Another huge issue yesterday and I don't know if I fixed that or not. I'll find out when I start working today. Get yourself together Microsoft!

    Hi all!

I've tried every single fix provided for my ADS-1800W and nothing has worked for me! I am starting to think scanning is gone until a new update rolls out. I am so mad i wasted money on a new scanner. If anyone has my type of scanner and figures out a fix, please, please, pleaseeee let me know! I appreciate every response received. Thank you so much!
