I do enjoy reading the replies...they will never just admit that their software is ****. Which is the reason for issues 90% of the time
Since Windows 11 24H2 update everything runs slow and takes longer to load
Ever since this update, my system takes a long time before it's fully up to speed. I'm talking 10 minutes or more. Even the opening screen where I enter my PIN takes longer to come up. After entering the pin, it takes a while for the app icons to show on the desktop and even then the taskbar arrives later. I can't get Outlook or Chrome to launch right away. It can take minutes for them to load and be responsive.
Even after the system is functioning more normally, it is still slower than before the update. Emails take a few seconds longer to open up. Files take longer to open. Chrome tabs take longer to show.
I've checked Task Manager. My CPU is at less than 10% and my RAM at 59% with apps open. Hard disk doesn't show a lot of activity. I've looked at processes and don't see anything that's consuming a lot of resources. Nothing obvious is showing up. I've made sure to turn off a lot of apps at start up that were unnecessary.
I've also turned off sys.main. Before that, everything was even slower and more annoying than what I have already described. Two other annoying things I've discovered. Microsoft turned off Malwarebytes and turned on Defender anti-virus without my permission. It also turned on Edge. None of these things should have been activated without asking my permission. The update should keep every app the way it was either turned on or off.
24H2 has changed something in my computer that affects all activity and load times. It is not hardware related.
I have a fairly fast cpu, ram and SSD disk access speed. This is a gaming computer. It worked fast before the update. I've made a few adjustments to speed things up but those were not necessary before 24H2.

2024-12-25T13:31:39+00:00 We were given 10 days to roll back the update. After that you can go to uupdump.net to get the 23H2 image for a fresh install, see this video.

2024-12-22T23:40:23+00:00 Some reports indicate that these updates messed with drivers.
Start with reinstalling your network drivers. Check for improvement.
If none, try reinstalling graphics drivers. If still no luck try reinstalling your manufacturer's chipset drivers.
Even third-party drivers for different apps could be affected, so if you STILL have issues consider reinstalling any of those one at a time, especially any that are AMD, Intel or ARM specific (depending on what hardware you have).

2024-12-20T15:31:10+00:00 Admittedly though I am also frustrated, these types of comments don't help resolve issues.
Not only those comments, but with hundreds of teams, and thousands of employees working on Windows systems, I would love to hear how you would resolve the issues with their pacing and release schedule. I for one can barely make a 200-user app work consistently. If you have new insights, or hardware features you think may be unique to help troubleshoot, all of us, those outside Microsoft and others, would appreciate hearing from you.
With that being said, we've (our company IT team) noticed that the issues we've been seeing can also be reduced a fair bit by cleaning up/rebuilding your user profile.
Since we're on a domain that's simpler for us than single system users.
We've also tried copying less in our user migrations to limit the amount of bad data being carried over.
