After windows 11 24h2 upgrade printer prints a few pages, the first with error message

According to MS Support, there should be a patch available by the end of march (hopefully 2025 ;) that fixes the issue on both windows 11 23H2 and 24H2.

Lets hope for that to work "finger crossed"

For Windows 11, version 23H2 there is a different regkey you need to set for the "Known Issue Rollback".

On our Windows 11 23H2 clients, the following regkey fixed the issue for now:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Policies\Microsoft\FeatureManagement\Overrides] "1513776270"=dword:00000000

For Windows 11, version 24H2 it does not work. We have not yet found a workaround.

Microsoft told us to rollback to Windows 11, version 23H2 to get rid of the issue :-/

I have a Canon MF643cdw printer as a local printer on a Windows 11 pro desktop connected by usb. A few days ago I upgraded the desktop to the Windows 24H2 level. When I now switch on the printer, the printer itself prints 4 pages. On the first page there are a few lines :

POST /ipp-print HTTP-1.1

Connection: keep alive

Content-type: application/ipp

User-agent: Windows internet print provider

Content-Length:626

host:local host"

I already uninstalled and re-installed the printer, unchecked the informative notifications. But no success. Before the upgrade everything worked well, the issue was introduces by the 24h2 upgrade.

What is the solution for this?

This issue is likely caused by Windows 24H2's handling of Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). Try these steps:

1. Disable Internet Printing: Go to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off and uncheck Internet Printing Client.
2. Check Default Printer Port: In Devices and Printers, right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Ports tab. Ensure it's set to USB and not an IPP port.
3. Update/Reinstall Drivers: Download the latest drivers from Canon’s website and reinstall.

If the issue persists, check Windows 24H2 updates for bug fixes.

like earlier mentioned, I did a rollback to 23h2 because I need the printer every day. So I can not make any traces anymore.

Now I have a related question. The 24H2 update was forced back onto machine today. And of course I started having issues again with the printer output garbage. Is there a way to block the 24H2 update until this issue with the printers is fixed? I understand the need for security and keeping things up to date but I also need my system to be functional and right this 24H2 update is not keeping me functional and is taking time from my work to address this issue.
