Windows 11 - Microphone icon in system tray

Hello.

I was wondering, is there any way to completely get rid of the microphone icon on the system tray without including adding it onto the "Show hidden icons"?

It's really annoying having that.

    I am sorry, but that is not a valid reason. If you are stupid enough to download some pirated software that is your choice. Isn't Microsoft Defender suppose to help notify us of this situation. Microsoft would be better off providing some kind of notification of this scenario versus showing the stupid microphone icon that is not needed.

    My icon is visible even if I use audio headphones that does not have microphone. I don't want to see this icon.

    I have no wife and I don't download pirated software

    Why does every forum have these self righteous Edward Snowdon wannabe's that make it their mission in life to demand everyone adopt their paranoid delusions? If I could hack a remote PC and take control of the Microphone, I wouldn't be on Microsoft Answers trying to get help. lol And if I had physical access to the PC, then surely I'd be better off planting a bug. A PC is a terrible surveillance device. What if they turn it off? xD

    If you don't know how to do what OP is asking, then stop wasting everyone's time and get off the thread. And err, get help!

    I just happen to be the most normal person in the room.

    The rest of you are just arguing for arguing sake.

    1. if R-y-a-n's special mixing software causes the mic icon to show up, then complain to the mixing software developer. Why aren't you complaining to mixing software developer? Because you would be laughed off by mixing software developer.
    2. if people are using Voicemeeter or virtual audio cable and the mic icon show up, then complain to the Voicemeeter or virtual audio cable. Why aren't you complaining to Voicemeeter? Because you would be laughed off by Voicemeeter developer.
    3. EU's GDPR is the most strict privacy law in the world. So it's not an "american" thing. I just use the American states law as an example.
    4. if you set up your computer to always listen to "hey cortana" that causes the mic icon to show up. Then turn off Cortana.

    This is what normal people would do.

    Complaining to any of these software developers is wrong, their software **needs** to access the microphone at all times in order to provide their functionality. They could at least make it possible for a user to select specific applications for which not to show the icon.

    You cannot get rid of it because it is a safety issue.

    It's similar to webcam indication light that tells you the webcam is operating.

    The only people asking to get rid of the microphone icon is people who are trying to secretly record somebody's else conversation (which is against the law in a lot of states).
