Windows 11 - Microphone icon in system tray

That is entirely untrue. Hiding your taskbar icon has nothing to do with listening to other people or recording them. so you can stop typing so big. There should be the ability to hide any taskbar icon but the mic is there when a program uses it. I want it gone too, but I am not recording anything, it is just an eyesore when i look that direction. I use the mic, but don't want to see the icon. I like a clean look with minimum icons. I do not even know how to record someone without permission to do so, and wouldn't do it if i did. Your assumption is ridiculous.

it never goes away. Has nothing to do with safety and it literally covers my toolbar which makes it impossible to see what is in the corner of the screen.

Just drag the icon in the taskbar to hide it, you only need it once, and you won't need to operate it again later.

This doesn't work. Can't hide it in personalization either as it doesn't show up as an option under taskbar items nor in Taskbar corner overflow. The Icon itself just goes to Privacy & Security settings for the microphone. I use a virtual mixer application and a voice changer application for my streaming setup that accesses the microphone so that's why the icon remains on, I just want to hide the icon without disabling microphone access to my apps.

Because I'm a streamer who routes his microphone into Voicemeeter mixing software, which needs to run 100% of the time otherwise I have no input/output audio. Due to this, the mic privacy icon in the taskbar is persistent. I would very much like to remove it.
