[Windows update installing the new Edge browser] Update KB4559309 Makes Computer Unbearably Slow

Last night I updated my windows 10 pro using KB:4559309. Since then my computer performance has absolutely tanked. my startup time is probably triple, loading any window has a few second delay.

I attempted to uninstall the update however windows tells me that it is required and cannot be removed.

This update has essentially rendered my brand new computer useless.

Please help!

Hey there, everyone

I have spoken to Missy Quarry, from the Edge team, and they are investigating this problem. However, they really need more details submitted though the Feedback Hub on Windows 10.

To submit feedback, please go to start > Feedback Hub.

You will need to click onto report a problem. Then enter your feedback/problem you are having with Microsoft Edge. On the categories you will need to make sure you have the following drop down options selected in the image underneath:

The more detail you can submit, the better it will be for the Edge team to find out what is causing this issue. So the detail box that has the test comment, should detail everything you are experiencing.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

my laptop still works fine to run the Windows 10 Operating System. an old laptop TOSHIBA Satellite L645. (Now the TOSHIBA laptop business division is being taken over by Sharp Corporations under a new name. Dynabook). by the way. about that. My drivers are compatible with Windows 10 since it was first installed. since Windows 10 Version 1803. Some of the drivers are installed via Windows Update.

My Win + X menu still works fine for doing Shut Down, Restart and others. I very rarely press the Power button to restart it except for obvious reasons such as: Windows 10 doesn't respond, mouse and keyboard don't respond when pressed (Trashing).

    just like that.

@KeithHammer - are you saying that right-click on start -> Restart option does not work, so you have to press and hold the power button? I assume that all your "context" menus are working (right-click stuff)?

Try going into the Device Manager (it is in the start right-click list), and expand every section to check for any items flagged or not working, yellow warning etc. Follow up on those.

Another thing to try is to ensure you have all the latest UWP apps, so go to the Microsoft Store, click on the 3 dots, choose the "Downloads and Updates" part, click on "Get Updates". This might eliminate any down-level apps that might hog your system.

By the way, what Anti-Virus are you running? Do you have any other unusual utilities loaded (any driver scanners, or system tune-up stuff) that could be interfering with the normal operation?

I have had people try to help and nothing works. I just get a run around doing most of the same things, I wasted hours and hours trying to get my pc back to normal. I was down to my last option, to redo my whole windows but that's not working too. I have to crash it all the time to get it to restart and then take a few tries to load up. I hope someone finds something soon.
