How do you fix that? I got the same issue. Please help.
Windows 10 Update (Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later)
* Mod note on 16 October 2021.
A third-party tool to block all updates to Windows 10 is mentioned several times in this thread. Links to this tool have been removed because Microsoft policy is that one cannot post here any method of permanently stopping/blocking updates to Windows.
Everytime i enter windows update i cant see nothing in Windows Update tab, only "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later" .
3 days have went by of me trying to fix this, but nothing is working...
The troubleshoot shows nothing wrong...
Tried to reset the pc but i got an error (something went wrong)...
When i try to scan the disk it always gives me an error
Did sfc /scandisk in safe mode there was no problem

2021-03-31T23:13:30+00:00 Hi Ug,
My name is Jen a fellow Windows 10 user and an Independent Advisor. Let me help you with your concern. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can do:
- Rename Software Distribution folder
- Click the Start button and type cmd
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
- Type the following commands one at a time. Press Enter after each command
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start bits
net start wuauserv - Close the command prompt after running the command and restart the computer
- Repair hard drive error
- Open Command Prompt Admin again
- Type the following command and press Enter
chkdsk/f C: - Restart the computer after
- Note the error message if you'll get any
- Run System file checker tool
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833... - Do a Repair Upgrade
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for... - Clean Install Windows
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-do-clean-ins...
If all the above troubleshooting won't work, there's a possibility that it's a hardware issue. Contact the computer manufacturer for hardware troubleshooting.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
JenHi Jen,
After entering "net stop bits", it says:
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service is not started
What should I do?

2021-03-09T18:56:07+00:00 I have the same problem. The service Cryptographic Services and maybe others block the access.
I'd use this third party tool to unblock windows updates and it worked

Can you please send the link/name of the 3rd party tool which worked? I don't understand why something which works was removed.

The link that was removed led to a tool to stop all Windows 10 Updates. It was determined that preventing the updating of Windows compromises security to an unacceptable degree.
