Hi,
The Recovery Disk\Drive is simply a basic re-installation of Windows hat is created from residual files already on the machine, and take hours to make, as compared to simply downloading a ISO in some fashion and burning it to DVD or Flash Drive..
The Repair CD is Repair only... Such as Recovering an Image, a Startup Repair, System Restore, Command Prompt, and etc..
The Installation Media will do all of the above, in addition to an actual installation of various types..
You can restore a Macrium image residing on a backup drive plugged into USB, but this must be done after booting the machine with the Macrium CD or Flash Drive.. I am not aware of any Imaging program that can restore an image to a drive that is currently actively running Windows..
It may be able to restore an image to an extra drive connected to the computer that does not have the Windows installation running on it..
That is why when doing a System Image using Windows 10, that when the Image is completed, you are asked if you want to burn a Repair CD.. It is required to recover the image just created.. It does not mention that bootable Installation Media and it's Repair can do the same.
