System Repair Disc Not Bootable in Win10

I am running Win 10 Pro 64bit version 1909. I used Control Panel, System and Security, Backup and Restore (Windows 7) to create a system repair disc. That worked fine, no error messages, until I went to use it. I tried to boot my pc from the CD drive where the repair disc was inserted but got an error message, non system disc or words to that effect. I had done this previously with Win7 without any problem. Any thoughts as to why the same process is not working in Win10?

    Hello, the problem with Windows 7 backup is that it isn't reliable & therefore is being removed as the Windows installation media can be used as a repair drive to troubleshoot Windows by booting the PC with this.

    Windows backup & maybe in the future file history are being deprecated & will eventually be removed, what you’re experiencing may be related to that.

    Microsoft recommend using third party software:

    “System Image Backup (SIB) Solution

    We recommend that users use full-disk backup solutions from other vendors.”

    I recommend moving to third party imaging software now before it is removed permanently if you prefer backing up your PC rather than using File history.

    I use Macrium which is very reliable & I now wouldn’t be without it..

    It has it's own boot drive so you can recover from drive failure & install the image to a new drive.

    I'm not arguing your point about having recovery media by way of USB. I agree with the concept of you can never have enough backup. The point I was trying to make is why is there a functionality in Win10, which is a carryover from Win7, to create a system repair disc when after you create it, it's worthless and useless. Just another brilliant move by Microsoft to presumably fix something such as the operating system transitioning from Win7 to Win10 and in the process breaking something else. Where is the testing and quality control?

    Do you have any experience with this 3rd party product? Is it an approved product by Microsoft? If a system repair disc, which worked perfectly well in Win7, does not work in Win10, what is the point for having the create system repair disc functionality in Win10?

    Your point is well taken but I'm not using a USB drive. I'm using a system repair disc in my CD drive. It worked in Win7 but will not work in Win10.
