My elderly DCP195C has been working fine with my Windows 10S until today, Thu 11 June 2020.  Windows did a large update yesterday or day before.  Now the printer will not work  }:-(   Tried looking at settings but nothing seems to solve the problem.  Anyone any suggestions please?

    This is a bummer.

I kan only speak for myself (71) but it took two tries and it worked, but many KB's have been mentioned, I did not have 4560960

And I did have KB4497165 and this one rest all back to 'normal' with the result that I could print again

Maybe try and start your system in Safe Mode with Networking support and try again

If possible log in as administrator or give your own user account the highest privileges

HAppy hunting and hope you can get it solved.

We're here al 'victims' of Microsoft's updates ;(

Sorry, but this fix didn't work for me, either. Ran the  wusa /uninstall /KB:4560960 command in the DOS box. After restarting, printer (a Brother MFC790CW) still won't work, AND when I look at the Windows updates list in Settings the damned KB:4560960 update is still there!

I'm a 75 year old Vietnam veteran with a bum heart and they told me last year I've now got cancer in both lungs. I can't afford a new printer just now because there are other things I have to pay for!

    underlining added:

USB printer port missing after disconnecting printer while Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) is shut down

Applies to: Windows 10, version 1903, all editions Windows 10, version 1909, all editions Windows 10, version 2004, all editions

    ...

    Resolution

You can avoid the issue by connecting a powered-on USB printer before starting Windows.

    More information

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. We are working to fix the issue in a future version of the operating system.

If it happens again I'll try that.

    Hi Jonathan,

I was in the same frustrating position as you with this situation! I  too got an error message when i tried to uninstall this update.

in the end i did a system restore to the point just before the update was installed.  It worked!!!!!  My Brother printer worked again.

so i then went into Settings and paused any future updates until july in the hope it may be fixed by then.

does this help you?  Like many, i wasted a whole day trying to sort this without any luck until i did the restore point.

    good luck

    jill

Should also have mentioned that the reason i ‘paused’ future updates was because when i switched off computer the windows update was automatically re-installed again!!!

    Jill,

Good tip to keep updates from creeping back in.

I did a restore to an earlier time and still not printer action.  I'm out of options.
