Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today

I am also Windows user. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

I hope the steps above helps. Have a nice day ahead and be safe.

With Warm Regards

Rhaine C.

I think I've tried KB4367523 (I'm running 2004) and it tells me that it is not available for my system.  I think that is because it has an update dated before Microsoft put Edge on my machine.  Not on this site but somewhere else I read that Microsoft is working on this issue.

I'm not an expert either.  I used to do things for myself; then I joined with www.falcon-nw.com and boy what an awesome machine!!! Go Falcon!  And all I had to do was whine and someone was there to fix it for me.  However they moved away and I didn't want to follow.   As time goes by I am back to elcheapo.

This evening I'll try again the KB4367523.

    Thank you

    Charlotte

thank you all for your responses, I appreciate you. I will keep trying and maybe something will work or they will find a fix. Yes apple is sounding better all the time. Until then, I have managed to send needed material to my phone and print from it, yes an iPhone. Thank you again and keep me updated if you come across something. You are good people to take the time to try and help....

I originated this thread several weeks ago when a routine Win10 update created problems in the computer/printer interface, making printing impossible.

The initial advice I got (from RhaineC) was to un-install the update, which worked in the short run, but I had to disable automatic updates to keep Windows from seeing that I didn't have it & re-installing it.

Then, Microsoft acknowledged that there was a problem for some printers with the update, and made a fix available (KB4567512).  I downloaded  & ran that fix, then turned my auto-updates back on, and haven't had a problem since.

At this point, I would worry less about un-installing the flawed update, and run the Microsoft fix that was prepared to address the issue:  KB4567512 for versions 1903 & 1909;  KB4567523 for version 2004.

Beyond that, I'm afraid I can't offer any advice - I am not a computer expert, just someone who had a problem and came here looking for help.  After I got help & resolved my issue, I've been trying to pay it forward by offering help to others, but honestly, what I've written here is about all I've got.  I sincerely hope it helps, and that you can get your printer up & running.

I believe the joke is on you....Microsoft allowed you to uninstall that KB 4560960 only in my case once I'd done that and thought I was home free and was able to print...until Microsoft noted that I'd done so and installed the latest version of Edge....which I understand cannot be uninstalled and I'm back to not being able to print nor uninstall.  Somewhere along the line I have read that Microsoft is working on something.  I think they are working on my to switch to Apple!
