Windows Live Mail stopped working after last Windows 10 update

Since the last update of Windows 10, when I open Windows Live Mail every message produces "Message cannot be displayed." I tried running the "repair" utility, but nothing changed. Is this a widespread issue? I really liked Live Mail and had a lot of messages saved that I can no longer access. HELP!

    Hello Dave,

You have changed the DWORD names rather than their values.  When you edit the DWORD change the Value data from 0 to 1 and click OK.  You will also need to change back each of your DWORD names to what they were.  Then you'll be good to go!

    Hi, Dave:

Admittedly, in one respect the fix originally posted was not best suited for low-tech people like me--and probably you. The explanation led you to make a mistake; I only avoided it through chance.

You entered the 3 DWord entries in the correct place, BUT you were  NOT supposed to type = 1 at the end. (This is where the fix could have been explained more clearly.) Instead, after you've typed in each DWord entry as shown in the original fix but excluding = 1, you then click on the new DWord. That should bring up a window which asks you to enter a value. If I remember rightly, the default value is 0 (zero), and you change that to 1, then close the window. Do that 3 times (once for each new DWord), then exit Registry Editor and check whether Live Mail is now working. I think it will be.

    Good luck,

    Mke
