Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Installation Problems / Clarification

Hi,

I have been struggling with getting MSFS 2020 to install!

Pre-Purchased the Premium Deluxe Edition and i have a Windows 10 PC - and so far all attempts have failed at some point over the last 12 hours of trying.

First question - what is the order of installation that should be performed from the Microsoft Store across the items that are listed there in two parts:

  1. Manage - with just one entry "Microsoft Flight Simulator: Premium Deluxe" and
  2. Bundle Contents - that lists four sub-parts

2.1 "Microsoft Flight Simulator"

2.2 "Flight Simulator Deluxe Upgrade"

2.3 "Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Upgrade"

2.4 "Digital Ownership"

Is there a particular order or hierarchy that these need to be installed?

i.e. do each of the sub-parts of point 2 above need to be installed individually and prior to the first part (i.e. point 1), or does installing the first (Managed) install all the others?

So far the downloads have been erratic, and i installed the first part and then launched it, it started up and then froze, and then crashed on restart. When trying to install the sub-parts, the computer just site there with "working" displayed on the sub-part line.

This is really frustrating!

Anyone able to provide some guidance or point to a set of instructions on how to get MSFS2020 installed?

thanks!

A couple of ideas for you.

    1. Earlier on, when I first wanted to install the Standard version, nothing I could do worked. I used up megabytes of data transmission, but couldn't get the whole thing downloaded. Nothing worked. Then someone said "try using a VPN", which I did - and it worked!
    2. Recently, with SU 5 (an update), I couldn't download it from the MS Store, and there is now no other way to download updates other than through the store. If I logged in to the sim, it would log me out again, and send me to the store. When I got to the sim, it told me everything was OK and go back to the sim. It was a genuine endless loop! Again, someone said "the trick is to install the Xbox app, and if it is installed, shut it down and restart it." Again, not very confident of this solution, but indeed - it worked.
    3. Yes, this is the Microsoft support site, but it isn't the Microsoft Flight Simulator support site. That's at https://www.flightsimulator.com/. If you go there, you will find lots of FAQs about this stuff, plus a zendesk to log problems. If this doesn't work for you, head in to the forums, register yourself, and look for answers, ask questions there. You'll find a wealth of information there on many topics MSFS. Once you're up and running,

https://flightsim.to/ is a great site for lots of addons to improve your experience - all free, too.

Let us know how you get on with this, and whether any of the suggestions have been of any help.

    Good luck

    John Glossop

Downloaded fs2020 eventually after numerous failed attempts. I read something about having to install Xbox on your system which I did and then I was able to download updates which had previously failed numerous times

Hope this is of some help. I have an Asus Tuf gaming laptop which runs the game perfectly.

If you are using the windows store app stop!

I had same problems and when I used a browser and went into the store via microsoft.com everything went smoothly.

    Try using the link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/microsoft-flight-simulator-premium-deluxe-edition/9pmdbl7963ld?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

I hope this ends up working for you.

Thank you for trying. I had tried to do that (among a myriad of other efforts) for 8 hours a day for the past three days already (your link automatically takes me to a link that automatically opens the STORE I tried to avoid [I also tried the XBox app for PC]). The problem seems to be Microsoft are employing minority spastix to do part of organizing the coders. I have an XBox One X which uses the same e-mail as what I used to buy/install the game on PC, but as the Console does not allow this game to install (wrong model), it now seems to be not installing fully on my PC also because e-mail linked or some such (the install locks up after 10 or 20Gb of install (600Gb spare on the SSD [sometimes telling my my empty SSD is full]); But the Game used to work on this PC before all these recent updates the last month (where previously normal people likely used to do the coding).

I guess Microsoft are just trying to destroy the time of their customers in order to ensure we never buy anything from them ever again.

    Hey there, MagnusSchmitz

    Thanks for the information.

Please can you go to Start > Settings > Update & Recovery

Then check for any Windows Update. If there is a Windows Update, please can you install it and see if the game works?

Can you press Start & R together and type winver

What version of Windows 10 are you using?

    Are you in S mode?

    Regards,
