THANK YOU JohnD for the reply. I was very confused as to getting the Service Stack updates ahead of time. I thought that needed to be done first as Sumit's links seemed to imply that (to me.) I appreciate the clarification. Y'know, this " update " makes me feel as though my machine was hit with 10 Virus', 5 Worms and at least one Trojan Horse! I'm not sure which I'd rather deal with :D Yes, my external hard drive is a great back up, but it being hardware, that can always fail too. DVDs, thumb drives, etc. not real convenient when updating documents that need to be saved multiple times, but due to this recent update debacle*, I'm trying to do the best and what I can. I will look into the Macrium Reflect you recommend. I can't really justify buying expensive cloud services that are over $100 or more per year--not for the type of user I am. I'm sure it would be worth it for many though. I believe that this "new and improved" update has turned many machines into expensive paper weights!! I wish we could postpone getting the forced update until MS can fix the issues, but I doubt that will happen. "If if ain't broke, don't fix it" and "KISS" come to mind when thinking about it. Could someone please elaborate on installing the Service Stack Updates prior to getting the windows update? Am I to DL and install that before the next forced update? I have Version 1909 for Windows 10 HOME edition. I see above there is a 1809 version but no 1909. I did get the cumulative update several days ago and it hosed my computer, so I uninstalled it. The update that I uninstalled was KB4566782. That in of itself, caused some major problems also. Still remnants of problems after the uninstall. Come October 10 the new update will be forced on me again! I've spent the past 3 days on computer fixing things (or trying to) that were ruined by the new update, even after the uninstall. It's crazy. While I do Back Up things consistently for the most part, I spent all day yesterday and this morning BACKING UP my important files after seeing so many people who posted here that they have lost years of documents, photos, etc. I know we expect that our computers are reliable, but BACKING UP seems to be of the utmost importance now. I've backed up to an external HD, burned DVDs, put things on thumb drives and signed up for a free cloud service (10 MB free.) It's exhausting :D Thank you from ,what I'm sure you can tell, not a very tech savvy user.

My Antivirus said that this update KB4574727 had a Trojan in it so it is in Quarantine. i have Bitdefender Total Security. I am going to unistall the update because i'm not sure what else to do. There was also another update KB4576484 and i will unistall that one as well just in case. The file \Device\HarddiskVolume4\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\021b4073b65a625a58c006858ea0a97d\Windows10.0-KB4574727-x64.cab is infected with Trojan.Ciusky.Gen.13. The threat has been successfully blocked, your device is safe.

After September 8 Update it shows it failed in Update History and now no internet, no sound, restore to earlier time is not available. My computer is dead in the water. And no, I cannot download new drivers I cannot connect. I’m using my Ipad to reach out to you. Help!!!

Yes, my external hard drive is a great back up, but it being hardware, that can always fail too.
