When I start up the game it tells me to press any button to start. I press a button and then it tells me to insert the disk and press continue. I don't have a disk because I purchased the premium Deluxe Edition online it's bought-and-paid-for it says the game is installed but everytime I press continue it just pops up again please insert disc.

    Hi!

I bought FS 2020 about a month ago from MS Store, and everything worked fine until I updated the bios on my motherboard. Then the "insert disc" appeared.

I put back the previous version of bios, and everything is working fine again.

Seems like the digital ownership is tied to the hardware on the computer. Change the bios version, and the digital ownership think it is installed on a different computer and therefore won't run without a original disc (which of course I don't have because i bought it online).

    Hope this can help...

I have Bitdefender and there I turned off the "firewall" and it suddenly worked.

For those of you who rely on this life-saving disk ISO (thank you so much, Gie Noëth), I recommend creating the following .BAT file with just two lines in your desktop:

    explorer "D:\Program Files\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020\MFS DISK 1.iso"

    C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App "-FastLaunch"

(just ensure that in the first line ("explorer") it is pointing to your actual location for the ISO).

This batch command file will mount the ISO and start MSFS 2020 without the annoying intro videos, saving you same extra time...

    :-)

Same issue; insert a (non existent) disk or quit.

They just summarily refused my request for refund, so $128 later they get my money and I get a disk full of useless.  I highly recommend staying away from this product.

    Good afternoon all

I have been experiencing the exact same issue as noted in this discussion.

    To outline the issue:

    1. You install Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 via XBOX gamepass
    2. On install it completes an installation of just over 1000mb, although it states next to the progress bar varying GB download size (e.g. I had 127gb, on another occasion 151gb, 91gb, 97gb...)
    3. On starting the program (whether via opening as Administrator or normally), The initial start-up looks good with all the publishers etc... however the famous, but most frustrating screen telling you to insert the DVD disc 1 into your drive.
    4. You are obviously left with the choice of clicking on continue, hoping a miracle will happen or you quit and google search it.

RIght...So I have tried all the different methods via youtube, and the different discussion groups to no success. I also have bitfender total security but firewall off before starting any installation. Turned on and working after installation.

Firstly, I must note I am not in anyway a professional in getting software to work but I tried and tried, keeping notes of what I did along the way in a hope to find a solution. Now I am writing this whilst the loop music is playing and a working game.

Okay...So this is what a I did and I hope it helps even one more person to get the game started.

    1. Uninstall the game, do this via the XBOX gamepass program. Right click and click uninstall.
    2. Next. Clost the XBOX gamepass fully via the icon, hidden in the taskbar. Again right click and exit it.
    3. Go to Microsoft Windows Store. Type in the game and then as normal click install. Choose the location you wish to install as normal and proceed.
    4. Right...at this point click on the arrow down which indicates the 'current downloads'.
    5. You should see three bars of downloads for MS2020
    6. Check that the second bar, for Digital ownership starts towards the end of the 1000mb download.

Everything up to this point will probably seem as normal but its the next step I did that got it working.

    1. Do not open the game yet! Rather. In the list of all downloads from the Microsoft store look for the one that says 'Digital ownership'. Right, now click the button that says "Install on my devices".
    2. A box will appear asking you where to install it. Click on your computer and it will actually download and install it again!
    3. Now is the time you have been waiting for...Click on the program from the start menu and hopefully, hopefully, hopefully it will show the XBOX screen saying that it wants to download and update information and finally the download will begin. Enjoy the music if it does!!!!! AHHHHH :-)

I notice some people said switching off Bitfender helps resolve it and I am 99% sure, it is a conflict between the digital ownership install and the firewall of the antivirus. Hope we get some resolution from Bitfender and really would appreciate more assistance from Microsoft on this matter as the install process of this game has been horrendous from release! Hopefully no further issues from this point on.

    Best wishes

    Hope this helps
