Windows 10- Locks up "waiting for cache"

Window 10 was working very well until recently after upgrading to Windows Edge chrome (or at least the is the only event that I can associated to this issue) I am getting persistent OS stalls or "not responding" that affect all applications when running Edge. Common to see "waiting for cache" in lower left browser window when the the entire system stalls and stops responding. Common to see the cursor hour glass for 30 or more seconds before system and affected applications start to respond normally.

Uninstalled chrome and edge. Using Firefox with zero issues

    It may be possible that it is a combination of Malwarebytes and Chromium Edge that causes the problem.

    I will be interested to see whether anyone experiencing this problem runs Edge without Malwarebytes.

    Also I still do run a combination of Edge and Malwarebytes on my main desktop and have never had a problem.  

    However, this desktop is never trying to sleep / hibernate.  It is either on or shutdown.

    I would like to chime in on this issue.

    I've been experiencing this recently a few weeks after switching to 2004 update.

    I'm on an X5650, X58A-UD7 Motherboard, 24GB RAM and an SSD main drive with several HDDs for storage.

    The issue persists in Google Chrome, Firefox and anything that includes web browsing where rapid access to small cache files on my SSD happens. I am able to play heavy games with zero issues.

    I ruled out chrome after experiencing the issue after completely nuking all Google Chrome related files, and reinstalling it without signing in.

    Firefox does the same thing, just as bad with general Web browsing and watching videos etc.

    I'm now left with a half bricked OS on my main system. At first I thought it was due to my overclock, but the issue persists on stock settings. sfc /scannow has zero corruption, DISM.exe commands find zero corruption. Fully Updated system, drivers and BIOS and I have tried using a different SATA Cable, port and issue persists.

    What is going on, I need a solution.

    I have this same problem in Chrome every few days.  

    And, when Chrome does it, Firefox seems to as well.  

    Sometimes if I close Chrome, then all is well.  Sometimes, I have to reboot. 

    Seems like Chrome is the problem for me.
