    Even if the update messed up your OS of windows your hardware should be fine. I've been working on computers for over a decade and have never encountered a corrupted installation of windows that damaged hardware.

    First you should try to reset your CMOS jumper which will  mothtake youre BIOS to their default settings.

    If that doesn't work you'll probably need to reinstall your OS but I would strongly recommend removing your hardrive and hooking it up to a different computer to back up any pertinent data first.

    Since I installed this update, my computer crashes multiple times a day. I get a different error message each time.

    Very frustrating.

    This Optional update is breaking a lot of PC's out there (including my parents who don't know and you should not expect them to know which updates install or not) so, you should at least remove the update until it is OK.

    Windows should not have a break button.

    I have been searching for why the latest updates to Windows 10 are causing me to get a black screen when Windows tries to start--before I can even sign in.  This has happened twice, once forcing me to restore, the second time to remove updates.  First I removed the Quality Updates--nothing.  Then I removed the Application Updates, and Windows is running. 

    But I cannot figure out how to identify what update is causing the black screen, nor how to stop it from re-updating.

    The PC is a home-built rig with an AS Rock MB, AMD RX2700 CPU, SSD drive (less than 1/5th full), a fairly full 2 TB RAID drive (about 100 GB left free), older Nvidia pair of video cards, and dual monitors.   In the Black Screen, the mouse moves on the right hand monitor, but not the left, the main one.  Frequently, on the left, there's also a dark gray band that covers the bottom 5th of the screen.
