Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure

Hello

I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.

It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.

I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

Finally, I finished the setup using an old iPhone which is running iOS12.

Looks like the Cortana app on iOS14 has an issue.

Try using a different computer if you have one. That worked for me.

I tried a desktop and 2 laptops as well as a windows 10 phone (versions 1903, 1909 on one laptop, and 1709 for the phone). I tried an old android 6.0 phone as well. I contacted Microsoft support, the guy wanted me to give him remote access to my pc. I didn't like the sound of that, and it definitely isn't on the device level for any of my devices, nor a network issue as I've tried it on three different networks as well as mobile data (I even tried it with wired ethernet on the 1903 laptop).

Now I pay for a Skype Number just for the speaker, but some random Indian dude who I can barely hear and understand that has no idea what Cortana Speaker I'm talking about isn't helpful. Nothing against him, but what other support can I contact? Skype? Because it's mainly a problem in Cortana's Notebook.

One another issue, the Xbox Skill isn't working exactly it should for the Invoke either. The long commands "Hey Cortana, Tell Xbox to launch Netflix" works but the short commands "Hey Cortana, Launch Netflix" don't for some reason (the speaker is fully paired with my Xbox One). They stopped working the same time as the problems linking with Skype started.

It looks like there's some sort of global outage of invoke devices right now. I tried resetting one of my invokes yesterday and during setup it kept saying my wifi password was incorrect. It did work with a different network, although it still doesn't work any skills other than wwe search, which is the global outage mentioned.

I have similar issues with both of my Invokes.  Simple commands (e.g., reminders, alarms), playing Spotify, and making outgoing calls linked to my Skype account stopped working a few days ago. Can someone help with a fix?  Others are posting same issues on reddit:

    Hi,

I have the same problems like you, it seems that second step auth on my Microsoft account is messing up the link between my Microsoft account and the invoke. Definitely it is a change that Microsoft did because it used to work fine, I hope you find the solution.
