Hello,

I have installed the latest update of windows 10 (home and pro).

Windows 10 Pro - 1909 (v. 18363.476)

Now the "search" tab is no longer in the folders and I can't clear the search history either. Where is this tab?!

An earlier reply gave a work around.  Enter "kind:" in the search box, no quotes, and the search tab and options will show.  Only lasts until you are done searching so put it on a sticky...  LOL

TJinWa: Thank you. This is a very helpful ad hoc workaround. Now, if only MS would restore the Search tab permanently.

I have the same problem that I recently discovered when I tried to do a specific search. This was not like that before. This just appeared after a certain upgrade, I don't know which one 'cause I don't keep track of them, there are so many.

Are these "Independent Advisors" on this forum payed my Microsoft in any way? Because if they are, their work and the also work of all MS tech support engineers who write articles on the MS Support site is absolutely pathetic.

For any issue that someone has with Windows, and this since Windows 8, the first answer that tech support gives you is: run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) (see the copy and paste answer of Joseph Y. M.) This is totally totally useless.

This kind of answer is as good as the built in Windows troubleshooter, a waste of time.

It is unbelievable how it is possible that Microsoft can allow this kind of obvious bugs.

I am wondering myself if these so called MS tech support people they have themselves Windows with the latest official patches?

If they do they can simply try to find the Search Tools and Menu on their own computers before providing these "copy and paste" answers....

    Shame on you Microsoft.

Why hasn't this been fixed yet. I have a lot of files on my computer so using the workaround by searching one letter to get the search ribbon to appear is not ideal. It should always be there.

when i type in the box the search tab does not appear.  As I said initially.  So, lucky  you.  For many of us, that is lost.

Press enter to execute the search, then the search tab comes up and you can modify your search criteria. It is idiotic for MS to require these steps, of course.
