File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The problem is solved for me with the update from Microsoft. Therefore I ask now : how to unsubscribe? You tell us “Unsubscribe: On the question, select the ellipsis (...) and then select Unsubscribe.” But I do not see an ellipsis in the window which appears when I click Your link except a greyed one with the number of replies as I have already answered the original question.

Can You please help?

Actually at the page [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4532695/windows-10-update-kb4532695] they say this:

• Updates an issue that causes a grey box to appear when you search within Control Panel and File Explorer.
• Updates an issue that prevents File Explorer's Search Bar from pasting clipboard content using the right mouse button (right-click).
• Updates an issue that prevents File Explorer's Search Bar from receiving user input.

So, search issues are expected to be cured with this one.

But first one needs to successfully install the KB without getting bluescreen though =)

I posted to this list on 28 Nov when this Windows Explorer search issue first gave me the problem after installing the Nov 1909 update. After following the posts and seeing various opinions and suggestions including waiting for the May update, I bit the bullet and uninstalled the 1909 update. Things went back to what they were with search working as before. I also deferred feature updates for 180 day figuring that took me up to the May update. I still got security updates and the Jan Cumulative update after which search was working OK.

On seeing Neilpzz post indicating a new update info I followed the link and saw that the improvement for 1909 was to do with the search issue in File Explorer.

I went back to Update in settings and reduced the delayed days for feature updates to zero, checked for updated and got the Nov 1909 one and the improvement one KB4532695. As I had uninstalled the Nov 1909 one I let it install before installing the improvement one KB4532695. After doing so which included a couple of restarts I tried the search operation again and it was not working and I was facing the same issues as I had after the Nov 1909 install. I then uninstalled the Nov 1909 update but not the improvement one. Another restart and search is now working as normal or should I say as it was prior to the Nov update. My version is now back to 1903 so I am assuming that as I uninstalled the Nov 1909 update the improvement update would have had no effect.

I have also deferred feature updates until the end of May and will leave it as such until that update happens.

I hope this is of some use to others.

It did not resolve thing for me but be interested to hear if the improvement update helps anyone.

The longer you look the more there is. I have office installed, Excel, Word & Power Point. In Excel. select open, browse, search box in top right corner, type in search criteria, dropdown shows various worksheets that meet criteria. Select the one you require, nothing happens. Close the open box, selected work sheet loads. In Word & Power Point, follow the same process, select a suggested item, comes up with error that this can't be done as you have a dialogue box open, i.e. search box. This whole search 'update' is a complete load of **//**, perhaps Microsoft need some 5 year olds to show them how to do it.
