File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Kind regards

Byron

    neilpzz:-

Just searching for something to do, followed your link, I believe there are 23 fixes listed for KB4532695, does not inspire confidence we you have to provide this number of 'fixes'. Have let Microsoft know many of us are unhappy with this debacle - give us back the OK version. I never had any problems finding files before update - referring to MS quote posed above. I think what we have now is an 'acquired taste' - not with me.

Quote from Microsoft for improvements to 1909 - 'We’ve heard your feedback asking for increased consistency, and to make it easier to find your files'. Could they provide names of people who have provided this feedback. The only way that I consider the old system could be 'easier' would have been to get some-one to do it for you. Perhaps they should collect feedback on the new version!

As HelooHeloo1 states, only pre-defined ranges can be selected, Day, Week, Month etc. Can do a specific date if you over-write say 'Today' with the day required '27/1/2020' for couple of days ago. Why has all this been changed when it appears every-one was happy with the previous version which was easier and provided more search option criteria? People doing these mods don't evidently use a computer nor these features, just a case of 'what can we change today to warrant our existence'. Please Microsoft, return the search function to the previous version that did what it was supposed to do rather than the joke version we have now. This 'update' just seems a 'backdate'
