I have a bluetooth headset that does not allow me to use it as both a microphone and a headset.
I have determined that audio will play through the Bluetooth headset as long as the recording device is set to Conexant ISST Audio. If I set the recording device to BHS-530 Hands-Free then no sound will play through either BHS-530 Playback device.
I can get audio to play while the BHS-530 Handsfree is setup as the Recording device but not while it is actively listening. As an example my BHS-530 Stereo is selected for both my default audio and default communication device. I start playing a YouTube video and audio works with the Playback menu is up in the Sound dialog (first screenshot), as soon as I select the recording menu (second screenshot) the audio stops. If I switch the recording device back to Conexant ISST Audio the youtube video will continue to send sound regardless of which menu I am on.
What do I need to set so that I can use the headset for both audio and microphone (Microsoft Teams Calls)
The headset comes up as two separate devices once it connects to windows:
Playback Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
and
Type: Headphones
Name: BHS-530 Stereo
Recording Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
Type: Internal Microphone
Name: Conexant ISST Audio
(this is my laptop's internal mic)

2020-08-18T17:57:43+00:00 This issue still exists. I've tried two listed fixes on this thread, but nothing seems to work.
The solutions I've tried -
1 - Disable the Allow Apps to exclusively control this device option.
2 - Disable Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator
I wonder how a mobile phone can connect to the device just fine, but Windows in 2020 still lacks at something this basic.

2020-06-28T00:04:33+00:00 HeyDavidPfannenstiel, i had the same issue like yours. What i did was disabling the Bluetooth Headphones from Sound - Playback and setting the bluetooth Headset as Default Device. The Playback and the Recording device should be the same, like in your photo Headset is default in the recording but Headphones is default in the Playback. Even if it's the same device, it will not work to hear and use mic at the same time. Setting both Headset in the Recording and Playback as default should fix the issue. I hope this helped!

I understood the difference between the two modes [ hands free and stereo ]. I bought this bluethooth to listen music and use as home office during this pandemic period.
If I use the stereo mode to listen music in my laptop, for example Spotify, the sound is excellent and very clear; but when I change to hands free mode the speakers does not works anymore as well as when I use the Microsoft Teams to remote meeting the speaker and microphone does not work either. In the Microst Teams I have to select the stereo mode speaker and use the laptop´s microphone that has a poor quality.
I would like to use the Soundcore Mini 2 Hands Free as microphone during my meetings.
