2 days ago i upgraded my windows 10 to build 1903 , since then ,

randomly and during any activity (gaming , watching a video ..etc) ,

screen with the word "locking" in the middle appears for half a second and my laptop goes into sleep mode

and then i have to turn it on again

this never happened before the update , i tried to reset and fresh start but, nothing worked , and now i can't get back to previous build

what do i do ?

HELP , PLEASE

SOLUTION

Hey guys

So, I solved the issue (for me, at least) a long time ago but forgot to report back. My apologies

Basically,

Settings -> power and sleep -> additional power settings -> change advanced power settings -> battery

Then, change critical battery action and low battery action to do nothing both on battery and plugged in

I don't know if others already solved the problem In a different way, but i Hope that helps

Have a good day

i found the problem.  i went to the HP forums and the  last BIOS  update is  buggy as  hell.  if you have a  HP and you are on  F.08, this is the problem. your laptop (or w/e) is  over heating  and shutting off while gaming. HP is currently working on a patch for this, but  who knows how long that takes. your options are to either,

    • send it into warranty since this isnt  your fault at all and let them reset your motherboard or  downgrade you to  F.05

    or

    • wait for the  patch.

    some "bandaids"

    • download  Ryzen controller and set your temp max to  70c (Your mileage May Vary here)

NOTE: ROLLING BACK THE BIOS WONT WORK CAUSE APPARENTLY, THIS NEW ONE  DISABLES GOING BACK TO A OLDER ONE (LMAO)

It's a concern because there is no message "Locking" that I have seen in WIndows 10, and the only way to lock is to use the Lock button in Sign Out options from your Profile link above the Start button, which essentially puts up the Lock Screen to force signing in again.

Look through Settings > Apps > Apps & Features list to see if there's anything installed for Locking the screen.

Did you run full scan with Download and install Malwarebytes from https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ ?

Then check System files for damage by running System File Checker from https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow...

I gave you every other thing possible for locking, sleeping, suspending the screen and none of those were engaged.

I believed you are asking for the picture of this screen? Sorry for the blurry image because this screen appeared really fast like half a sec so I have to record with my phone and cut it out from the clip. But this is technically what happened to me and everyone.

I'm sorry but it's a little strange to see even a Windows MVP like you haven't seen this screen before.

This is exactly what I am getting.  Then, the machine goes to sleep.  This is not just a screen lock.  The machine goes to sleep while I am actively working on something.  Only happens maybe once a week.

I have the same problem, windows just goes into locking mode this happens whenever I play games,in about interval of 10 minutes and when I sign in the game will be running in background.

I tried everything changed power and lock screen settings even reinstalled windows to 1903 version.

It all started after the hp bios update I thought to rolling is back but couldn't get the bios file.I have HP pavilion laptop it's about a week old,may be I need replacement.

I Already double check my battery is full functional and no have any problems, i realize this problem when I UPDATE THE WINDOWS, i dont do anything with my laptop. i always put in charger when i playing games. the day before i update the windows, is completely FINE AT ALL. when i done update this problem shows up. and one more thing, before the update. when power on my laptop  its automatically start update BIOS too.

    my laptop is HP btw

as a streamer, this has  truly made my life a  hell. i can  use my pc  for ANYTHING, but once i start a game,   its  time to start the lock up parade.  i tried every solution here and gotten NO WHERE.   it finally hit me tho that all this  started  around august 2nd. the day my HP GAMING LAPTOP got a random Bios  update.

idk why my GAMING LAPTOP now all the sudden sucks at  well..... PLAYING GAMES.

i feel like if you can revert the BIOS to its previous state, (the last update you had before all hell broke loose, that should fix the problem.  is there anyway this is  possible?
