Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

How do I unsubcribe from this. Since my photo are down able to download from my phone....I cannot seem to unsubscribe. I can't the ellipsis as described in the directions from Microsoft to unsubscribe...HELP...
Thanks,
John
I have had the same issue, don’t bother looking for an ellipsis, it doesn’t exist (at least when browsing on a phone). Instead, look for the “subscribe” button on the original post. Click that and an “unsubscribe” option should pop up.

The downside of changing the iPhone setting to 'most compatible' is that it will eat up your phone storage space quickly.
Apple switched over to HEIC in order to give users more storage space. There is quite a big difference between JPEG and HEIC. You will find a 64GB iPhone plenty sufficient nowadays because of HEIC, or a 128GB if you shot a lot of videos.
Freezing error
No resetting of my iPhone or PC resetting required.
I could not transfer over my photos/videos from my old iPhone 7 Plus. But once I switched the setting to 'keep originals'. The import method transferred everything in one go without any issues (5,496 files, 27.3GB).
Yes - You do need to download a plugin that will let Windows open these HEIC files. I did manage to find the free Windows plugin so all is well.
It appears for me, Windows did not like the 'automatic' setting on my iPhone, but was happy to imported all the original HEIC files.
Try downloading latest version itunes

Quick possible fix. Reset iphone.

go to Photo (scroll down)
under “transfer to mav ir PC”
select “keep originals”

on PC. Do a REPAIR and or maybe RESET on Windows 10
select Settings
srkect APP
sekect App & features
select (microsoft) photo app
select advanced options.
hopefully this fixes much of the issues
