Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

-Gabriela

I read up to about page 9.

Have you people tried importing via the file explorer method?

    1. Open up file explorer with your iPhone plugged in (USB connection).
    2. You will see the name of your iPhone listed in the left.
    3. Right click the name (iPhone) and select 'import pictures and videos'.
    4. Then follow the instructions.

This method worked for me, instead of the Photo App method.

I was clearing out my old iPhone 7 Plus.

Yes - I have tried all suggestions so far mentioned right up to this post - every one of them, and even gone back after updating Windows and IOS and tried them again. It's great that file import worked for you at least and some others here.

Greg -  Obviously this problem has been going on for a while now, yet there is still no fix.  Why? Why? Why?

Our phone storage is full, our SD cards are full, and I can not continue with the projects I am working on.  We bought an expensive photo scanning machine to transfer old prints to digital and now can't.  Am I understanding that my only choice is to completely change operating systems because Microsoft can not correct a simple thing like an App that freezes?

This thread needs to be flagged to Microsoft Management and the problem needs to be addressed once and for all. The issue is not an iPhone bug, because my phone works well when plugged into commercial printers to print photos. I'm also going to test if my old Windows 7 laptop can accept the data transfer too, I suspect it will.

It's a Windows 10 issue, and it's embarrassing as heck and needs to be fixed urgently.

    DennisY1 and Zack

Thank you so very much.    This gave me the opportunity to import some photos. After the import screen, I was able to go to the next screen and it had grouped my photos by date and time. I could then select which group I wanted to import.

Too bad we (well, actually you guys that know what you are doing ) still have to make up our own  methods to import photos.

    Please fix this Microsoft !!!!!

You'r wrong. This has nothing do do with Apple. I'm having the issue with Android devices, i never bough any apple product so its clearly a windows software problem. This must the the biggest Joke on Windows in the latest years. I will write an article about this soon. I cant believe whats happening here. Did every good programmer left Microsoft and they'r left with their NT kernel unable to fix that or what? Cringe
