update 1903 sound problem

I want to thank you for starting this discussion it helped to fix the issue.

I just updated to 1903 and I found the sound stopped and nothing attempted in the past worked to fix it, so this is when I began to dig deeper and found this discussion on the very issue.  Bryan I want to thank you very much for your outstanding technical advice.

I have the Sound Blaster Audigy 5/Rx; the sound was working with build 1903, however I lost functionality with the Creative Audio Control Panel, and other Creative features  including Creative WaveStudio 7.

I rolled back to build 1809, however functionality was not restored.

Perhaps the issue was with a security upfate or a NET framework update? I don't know.

The Creative software is 32-bit; I am running x64 Pro.. I did reinstall the applications today, with security software disabled and in admin mode. Still, the apps are not functioning, but I do have sound. There's nothing new on the Creative site (as far as I can tell).

Jumped the gun on this one - although the solution works, every reboot causes Win 10 to go back to 'no sound' issue :(

I was able to re-step the install and it works, but keeping the machine without regular (everyday) reboot is a not something I can do for long (dev machine).

If this had to do with upgrading to win 10 19xx whatever I found the problem was within windows itself and not the driver. I simply went to the windows (not the drivers area) for sound control and enabled whatever was giving me trouble. I have had no further problems except my motherboard is obsolete and no longer supported by gigabyte when it comes to drivers etc... so you need to make sure all routes to the device are enabled and then you might decide after doing this to be a hardware issue instead ??? I still want Microsoft to create a gaming mode boot up where you only run like steam or origin without anything unnecessary running in the background to slow the machine down. Such a boot to exclude microprocessor or memory or disk undercover demanding activities. these pcs are little more than the old IBM mainframes which shared time between various users. in the gaming case you want to be the only user on the entire machine.
