KB4493509 fails to install

Hello everyone,

this is the first update since upgrade to 1809 that fails to install. I tried everything. Manual downloading, but even manual installing at the end just shows message, that the update couldn't be installed, without any errors. At Windows Update, it's shown an error 0x800f0982. I've done sfc /scannow, no corrupted files. I've done Restorehealth etc, and the error is still there. This is the first time that has happened to me. So should I wait for next update? Or what to do?

    Sorry. I missed that you had tried all 3 things. Going to look for something I tried on another computer that worked but it is a long process. This is where I got updates to take on another computer that weren't taking at all. Look for where it says "Download WSUS Offline Update, extract it to a folder, and run the UpdateGenerator.exe application."

    Hey,

    I don't know if you saw, but I've already wrote in previous answers and under the tittle problem that I've tried this, and it doesn't work.

    Hi MonikaPetek, I help people with updates and maintenance on their computers and have been having the same problem trying to install this one on a friends. So far haven't found a solution.     The Microsoft Servicing team is tracking this issue and has fixes in the works. Until they ship, lead with the following workaround:

    Check for corruption in the component store and attempt to repair it.  To do this:

    1. Check for Component Store corruption and attempt to repair it
      • If the impacted device is not connected to Windows Update directly, first configure the Windows Repair Source
      • From an elevated command prompt, run:
      • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
      • Go to Settings app -> Windows Update -> Check for updates
      • Verify the issue is resolved. If the error persists, process to step #2 below.
    2. Reset the PC
    • Go to Settings app -> Recovery
    • Click on Get Started under “Reset this PC” recovery option
    • Select “Keep my Files”

    The problem with this update that some (SOME) users experienced has been traced back to Third Party Anti-Malware Apps. Additionally, Registry Cleaners are notorious for creating problems by removing necessary files. And they do NOTHING that helps your computer to run better. Certainly nothing that Windows does not do already (and much more safely).

    But, as you said, it is your computer and your choice.
