Lenovo 100s ideapad Bitlocker problem after Windows update Nov 2018.

My Lenovo 100s got a Microsoft update on 2/11/18. Since restarting I get the bitlocker blue screen asking me to enter the recovery. I never set one up, was never asked to set one up, so don't have one. Been backwards and forwards with Lenovo, who say they are working on the problem and have now said it is a problem for Microsoft to sort out. Contacted Microsoft who have said it is a hardware problem for Lenovo to sort. Please can someone just help to sort it out.

re the issue with Lenovo 100s and bit locker having been onto Lenovo and Microsoft to get issue resolved

first speaking with LENOVO they confirmed it is a Microsoft issue 100s Ideapad  DOES NOT HAVE TPM CHIP INSTALLED NOR IS THE HARD DRIVE PARTIONED  OR A SEPERATE BOOT OPTION IF YOU READ MICROSOFT OWN CRITERIA  for bit locker to be enabled THE MACHINE NEEDS THESE also as bit locker is Microsoft

not LENOVO . Having now spoken to a Microsoft agent in the U S A he now agrees that it is their issue

having pointed out their own criteria for bitlocker  he agreed beyond his pay grade and would force it up the line

I pointed out also two days before the update KB4462919 within my Microsoft account where you are supposed

to find this key my setting was off it now shows on not changed by me so why cannot the Microsoft accounts be rest to off by default like the update did earlier in year .I have written in disgust to Microsoft AS THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME UPDATES HAVE CAUSED ISSUES WITH LAPTOPS WITHIN THE FAMILY AND WE NEED ANSWERI AGREE CORPARTIONS NEED BIT LOCKER I DONT

    Hi again Beverleypage.

    Just heard back from Lenovo

"Our temporary solution is not a guaranteed fix certainly but we cannot provide any other fix as we simply do not have access to the necessary Microsoft systems (ie. Bitlocker) needed to provide a full solution.

I can only apologise to yourself for the delay but as I am not a Microsoft agent I cannot provide any further information on this front."

From this it looks like they are no longer willing to assist in the matter, but that wont stop me from contacting them at least once a week, as I will be doing with Microsoft.

    All the best

    Hi Beverleypage

Got a telephone reply form Microsoft. Asked for a call in the evening, when I said evening I did mean evening in the UK not the US, anyway I got a call at 6 am this morning, I am most definitely not a morning person, especially when I have a week off work. All they called to tell me is that they are aware of the problem and to wait until a resolution is found by their software engineers. Waste of time. Ah well will contact them again next week to see how it's going......and the week after that….and again etc.

It will be interesting to see how the people that have taken them in to get a reinstall get on, mind you I will still wait, they (Microsoft) caused the problem, they can damn well sort it.

    Cheers

    hi paul w656

have got a part reply back from BILL GATES via auto reply was asked to fill in a letter on line which I have now done

and have got an auto receipt I have also just noticed on one of my earlier post to you that my case number was removed by a moderator  I ask why also our Microsoft accounts have changed yet again the status bar is now back

spoke again to Microsoft and to me unlike LENOVO they do not have access to a machine where the will clearly see what is wrong also going back to the account thing I can now see the time date and event that killed our machines so clearly the

update which is software and the bios update which is software all came through the auto update so any moderator reading this post please get it sorted  LENOVO  DEAL WITH THE HARDWARE NOT THE SOFTWARE

it will be interesting to see if people that have given machines to repair shops for a reinstall get a result

    regards beverley page

    Hi beverleypage.

Have contacted Lenovo, no change there, have contacted Microsoft UK, went round in circles again about getting the key etc and you must have when you set bitlocker up, the usual. I then provided them with the command prompt status after entering manage-bde.exe -status.

It is now with level 2 support who I now have to wait for them to contact me.

Microsoft UK still maintain that it is not there problem, but a hardware issue related to bios/firmware. Now I have actually got a bit further with Microsoft here I will keep on with it, can't believe it's taken me this long to get this far though.

How goes it at your end?
