Remove Wireless Projection Banner from Desktop screen

Hi, I had this problem as well, and found an easy solution in another thread.

Run Task Manager

Find "Windows Shell Experience Host" 

Click on it

Click End Task on bottom corner of the window

ALT - F4 ....it will close de banner! ;)

3. Banner appears and you select the unpin button to get back screen real estate on your main monitor.
4. When you are done displaying on the TV. Now the only way to disconnect to visit the original projection mode and disconnect.
5. After the disconnection the banner re-appears and you are totally unable to do anything with it.

After the unpin action shouldn't the banner move the task bar or tray so you can re-access it? 

when you unpin the banner it doesn't go away, it just hides. if you mouseover where the banner was, it should pop back out, allowing you to re-pin or disconnect.

that's my issue. since it can ONLY be at the top, and it's more than half the width of the screen, it will ALWAYS be on top of any tabs i have in that middle area no matter how far i slide it right or left. if i unpin it, it's WAY too easy to accidentally mouseover when going for a tab there, and i've accidentally hit "disconnect" without meaning to before (and nearly hit it dozens more times).

there needs to be a way to truly hide it, no pop-out on mouseover, or move it to another part of the screen, or better still disable the banner from appearing at all in the first place. i'd prefer a global option ("never appear"), but i'd be happy with even something i have to opt for each time i connect. i don't think MS thought this through completely to realize that, unlike the remote desktop connection banner it emulates, wireless displays are used a LOT by regular users, home users, not just IT techs, sys-admins, etc.

I SOLVED it by renaming a file in c:\Windows\System32 named Windows.Internal.PlatformExtension.MiracastBannerExperience.dll

I've had to change the owner of the file from its Properties->Security->Advanced options->then at the top change the owner, next give permissions to Administrators users, and change the file extension to .old.

I've had to reboot for this lovely hack to take effect. I connected again to my Samsung wireless TV and no more stupid banner.

second though, i'm with Steven.  i found the file, opened its Properties dialog, clicked the Security tab, then the Advanced Options button, then next to the owner clicked  "change"...and that's where it fell apart.  i'm fairly proficient with these sorts of things despite my lack of any formal training, but this bit is not at all intuitive and i haven't a clue what i need to do from here, to change the owner, and i don't want to accidentally lock myself out, brick my computer, send the launch codes to all the nukes in the world and blow up Mars.....lol.
