Files not synced - OneDrive

I do recall Protection for my Desktop, Pictures & Documents folders was off for me when that feature first appeared (in 1803, I think). I turned it on after upgrading to 1809, & the full contents of those 3 folders moved from "C:\Users<Username><Folder name>" to "C:\Users<Username>\OneDrive<Folder name>". The original folders are still there, but empty.

OK. I'll turn Protection back off for Desktop & Pictures. Ah, it puts up this requestor...

So - right - the folders & contents remain on OneDrive (for one to fuss about oneself). New stuff gets saved back in the old location. Here is the original location before & after making a new picture (with the Snipping Tool)...

That shortcut (& the 3 folders also with a shortcut inside, but no files) got put there in the act of turning off Protection. It opens the OneDrive Pictures folder. But there are 3 other folders in OneDrive\Pictures that did not get copied. I don't know what's up with that.

Anyway... I'm going to manually cut/paste the full contents of OneDrive\Pictures & OneDrive\Desktop to their counterparts in the Users<Username> folder. I don't really see why I was protecting those two in the first place anyhow. I will delete the shortcuts too.

OneDrive will also check for other file or folder changes and may show "Processing changes". If OneDrive shows “Processing changes" for a long time, it could be because you have an online file open, a very large file syncing, a lot of files stuck in a queue. To help resolve these problems, read OneDrive is stuck on “Processing changes".

Thanks!  Yes - the Windows login is what you have to use to login to your computer when you first turn it on (i.e. what gets set up when you first get a new computer).  MS has not yet allowed this to Windows login to be the same as your Office 365 Business account (sort of a flaw that they should fix) unless you buy the Enterprise edition of Windows.  My problem is not with the 3 icons that you show above, but with the "synch still pending icon" - I tried to insert the screen shot again as it did not seem to insert properly earlier.  Even though it apears as if the folder is not synched, it is actually synched.  So it's some odd icon statut error (which is rather annoying).  If you go to the OneDrive itself, it will say "all files synched" so they actually are synched.   Hope this makes more sens with the screen shot in here again.  

Thanks again!    I am not sure I completely understand this point on the Auto Save and how this affects the icons.  All of my folders have synch icons - the icons are just not correct (for some reason my screen shot did not show - let me try again).  The ones that appear to be synching are in fact completely synched - it's just an icon error. . 

I don't think I turned on the "Auto Save" in the protected files, but my understading from MS Office was that this was on by default.  I went back and re-clicked on this and it does not appear to change anything.  I should note however, that the "Auto-Save" actually matches what you choose in the file selection part:

Also - I don't know that the folders are out of OneDrive when you choose to "Always Keep on this Device" as they appear in both places for me.

Thanks Craig!  With the 30 hours with Office 365 they did link and then unlink my accounts (not something I would suggest either), take every piece of Office 365 off my computer, reinstall all programs (including uninstalling and reinstalling the OneDrive synch client) and the issue is still there.  The failure only appears when using my primary Windows login - that's how we know the issue is with the Windows login (given the "dummy" account created).   I use that same Windows login for other logins as well

• so the Windows "solution" to delete it entirely instead of filing a ticket to investigate what is likely some sort of corruption or a profile that just needs to be "re-set" or "resynched" on their backend is a bit crazy.  I had a similar issue years ago when the windows login was causing other issues (and they had to fix it on their back-end). 

What I was hoping for was that a MS Windows manager would actually pay attention to this and file the ticket.  Any ideas on how to actually get a competent windows expert on the phone (I asked for a supervisor and he was even worse)?  The "supervisor" in addition to just  wanting to delete my Windows profile entirely also said that Sticky Notes was on Office 365 product (and it's the Windows team as Office 365 has told me multiple times) and basically told me as well on that to just wait for the 1809 build to come out to fix the 1803 Sticky Note issue since "he hadn't heard about the problem" and offered no other solution.  My Sticky Notes now just completely crash any time they are opened.  Not sure if those are in fact saved somewhere locally that uninstalling and re-installing those will not cause all of my Sticky Notes to disappear (I have another thread going on that one - but no response on that question there).  All and all brand new computer (now 3 months old) that has had never ending MS issues since the day I bought it.  Probably logged over 100 hours on the phone with incompetent MS "technicians".   The Office team punts to the Windows team, the Windows team punts to the Office team - really crazy.
