After 1809 update, my external USB drive is no longer listed as "usable drive". I am not able to turn File History on.

That should have worked, in 1809 as in all prior versions. And it really should require no fiddling with OneDrive, either.

    (1) I want to suggest an over-install (repair-install) of 1809; however, MSFT has not yet rereleased 1809 to do it with. Its second coming supposedly is immanent, though, & will be here when this site again says "October 2018" (instead of "April", which is 1803)…

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Download Windows 10 --  currently says "April" - wait for "October"

Then, do the repair-install as described in here...

    (2) As someone else in this thread has done, switch at least temporarily to a 3rd-party image maker. If your external HDD is a Seagate or Maxtor, there is a free version of Acronis True Image at their site (which only work on their HDD). Seagate calls it DiscWizard. It is quicker, makes more compact images, & is more versatile in use. Macrium Reflect, AOMEI Backupper, & others also offer free versions.

    RoddyS,

    Many thanks for your help.

I've tried the old way to a brand new external disk - 0X80070013 again.

I hope Microsoft resolve the problem with OneDrive soonest.

( I did try a System image to my old external hard disk but that failed after completing the backup of the RECOVERY Disk after 98% of the total backup).

I'll try your version of effectively switching off OneDrive when I get a chance.

I tried again tonight by making my own selection.

    All users ticked.

    C: drive ticked

    D: drive recovery ticked.

Alas this did not work either. still getting error 0x8007013 after 97%

    Any simple solution ?
