My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

I always keep a system backup in case something unexpected happens. Windows restore never seems to work when you really need it. I use the free version of Aomei backupper. I have found that Windows 10 tends to be unstable and several times I have resolved a problem by doing an upgrade install which keeps all your files, settings and programmes intact.

I hope you can get your Epson software working again.

Yes the only reason i am still able to work is that i restored from a february 2018 backup, of course that build of windows i am told is no longer supported and NOW crippled ! ! ! -  ALL solutions are update to version build 000.19 which cripples a key conponent of the business.   Isn't that nice MS drops win 8 support and win 10 according to builds they don't like.....  I am serious!

I noticed the fixes are temporary, I got the wifi element fixed but NOT the direct USB connect working then as if by random that also began working and I lose the scanner.

ALL in ALL the truth is from the responses I've seen MS update 19.0x is unstable with intention, and MS cannot help,  I don't want to desparage MS support some people there want to help but once you get to a REAL level 2 tech they simply do not want to be involved and will initaite a procedure that will cripple you, if you play with registers "regedit" you risk having NO alternative but to BEG for a tech level 2 MS tech to save you as you sink into the abyss  - What you will then get is a Customer service rep guiding you closer and closer to a re-install or WIPE of your OS and beleave it or not that works 1/3 of the time consuming hours of re-installs, crippled app (office 2003 for example) and 1/3 of %100 success and 1/3 of semi-functional OS with a slew of damages...

Once MS support damages your system you will find NO HELP in getting back any part of it, they will litterally throw out buoys of cement for you to grab, but they are intended to sink and make them look like they are TRYING to help when in fact they are playing to the upper level beuracracy that catches wind of there nonsense and ask them to what is going on.

two clients I know have already left the MS scene and I am too entrenched to leave and trying to find a reasonable solution to being an MS cronie (Not by choice)

So more power to you and

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET BACK THE SETTINGS OPTION IN win 10 build 10.69...

Rachel, here are some suggestions you can try. You said that running as administrator did not work. You already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

1- When you open Epson Scan, does it only crash if you click outside the Epson scan window? You might be able to do some scanning just by not clicking outside the Epson Scan window.

2- You might be able to access the Windows WIA scanner. Go to Control panel/devices and printers/ with the scanner switched on double click the scanner icon and use the Windows WIA scanner interface. Its not as good as Epson scan but it's something.

3- Try to reinstall the driver again using this method. With the scanner on, go to Devices and printers in Control panel. Select the scanner and right click/delete device. Switch off the scanner. Uninstall the driver software and download from the main Epson site and try installing the driver software again. Turn on the scanner when the driver software asks you to. Epson support may be able to provide special software that can completely remove the old driver.

4- A registry hack mentioned here (Make sure you back up your registry before trying this)

I hope you can get your scanner working again.
