"Installed" fonts not showing up in Windows Fonts folder

Hi guys,

Unfortunately, none of the previous answers solves my problem.

I try to install fonts. According to Windows that also works but I cannot see the installed fonts in the Windows Fonts folder and neither do they show up in Illustrator. 

When I copy a font file into the Windows Fonts folder it says "The "xxxxxx" font is already installed. Do you want to replace it?" - I click yes, but still - the font does not show.

It's not a problem of the font file as it was working previously. Same happens to hundreds of other fonts. Says they are installed but they don't show and they are not selectable in other applications.

    I was facing the same problem. However, I have resolved it through using command prompt. 

    Use command prompt by running it as Administrator, otherwise it wouldn't work. 

    Just go to \windows\fonts directly on your machine. With dir command you will see all the fonts that you have installed. You can copy or move these through this prompt.

    Please let me know if this resolves the issue.

    and then what? how do i make them work with applications? does it work if i just copy/move the fonts folder to desktop?

    As of lately,  fonts are installed in the "C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts" folder - does not matter CUT, COPY, or PASTE or whatever, the font does not move to the Windows/Fonts folder.  It creates a Deleted folder  in the "C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts" folder, copy the previous installed font in the Deleted folder and "overwrite" the previously installed font.  About all Graphics apps does not see this MS../font folder.

    Yes Pierre! I'm like you - 30+ years in IT systems development -  and it still astounds me that MS can screw up a task that used to be so simple. Right click on a new font file, select install, go to you app (Word of whatever), select your new font the type!! Simple!!

    By the way I'm on the very latest Windows 10 Insider Preview Build that was only upgraded by MS in the past couple of days. But I have no idea when this font problem with Windows 10 started.

    If you discover a solution please tell!!

    Hi

    I have the same issue.

    The Font is hiden. if you navigate to the fonts folder and then listed with the details list you can see it.

    Right click on the font you want to use, and select "show".

    I've been having the same problem, specifically I installed a free font (sportscenter) which I could use in Adobe Illustrator & Word but not in InDesign. The font was not visible in the font folder *except* when I accessed the fonts folder with a command prompt: %windir%\fonts

    There I could *see* the font file, but the function was the same. I deleted, reinstalled--nothing worked.

    Here's what did work for me:

    In Illustrator and selected a piece of text with the font applied, and added the character style to my CC library. Back in inDesign, I applied the character attribute to my text--but instead of it updating to sportscenter, it was updated to the Adobe font "eurostile," which is identical in appearance to sportscenter. Eurostyle, interestingly, is also not available for use in Illustrator. It's not your usual system font match: It is the exact same typeface. I've concluded that the two fonts are in conflict somehow. In any case, I accomplished my goal. The font is looks exactly the way I want it to, just with a different name. 

    Hope this is helpful to somebody else.
