"Installed" fonts not showing up in Windows Fonts folder

Hi guys,

Unfortunately, none of the previous answers solves my problem.

I try to install fonts. According to Windows that also works but I cannot see the installed fonts in the Windows Fonts folder and neither do they show up in Illustrator. 

When I copy a font file into the Windows Fonts folder it says "The "xxxxxx" font is already installed. Do you want to replace it?" - I click yes, but still - the font does not show.

It's not a problem of the font file as it was working previously. Same happens to hundreds of other fonts. Says they are installed but they don't show and they are not selectable in other applications.

    Did you try uninstalling your printer and its driver? Then restart and they will automatically reinstall. This worked for me.  I found somewhere online that Word looks at your printer to decide what fonts to use.  Good luck!

    Good afternoon. I have been having this issue and it was when I was investigating it that I saw that many people seem to have it yet there are very few solutions. My colleague and I have found one that worked for us.

    In our instance the issue was caused by a missing Font (Arial Narrow) but corrupt fonts can cause the same issue. We tracked this down by examining the make up of the email which opens up in a notepad file.

    Stop and disable the following services:

    Windows Font Cache Service

    Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0

    Reboot the machine otherwise the next steps won't work.

    Browse to**:**C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local and delete any .dat files that start with "FontCache" and also make sure the "FontCache" folder is empty.

    Browse to the PC from another PC on the network and delete the offending fonts from C:\Windows\Fonts. It won't work if you try and delete it/them from the same PC. It'll give you an error message about how it's a "System Font" and "can't be deleted".

    Once you've removed the fonts reboot the machine, Enable and start the two services above that you stopped and then open Word. Select your desired font from the drop down menu. If there's a cloud symbol there that means your font isn't installed and will be installed from the cloud. Select it and begin typing. That should be it!

    As we speak I am downloading the WPS app and will install, and hopefully it will resolve the issue. My concern, and hope it will be fixed, when I use grahics apps, the name of the font displays in the font drop down box but the rendering does not (not even in PP) - so you actually have no incling how the font looks like unless you go to the web and search for it (so I have a bookmark to fontsquirrel). BUT, a BOG BUT, a free grafix app, Paint.net, renders the fonts correctly in the font dropdown box. These guys knows what is cooking and perhaps needs to be contacted for their solution.

    I'll post my comment one WPS is installed.

    I respect your decision, but just to remind you. The issue could be caused by a corrupt user account or corrupt system files. If you do not try my suggestions to check, the issue will always be there. You can send a feedback in the feedback hub, by the way.
