Hello,

0xC1900101 is generic error code and points to driver incompatibility while you opt to upgrade. You need to read the dialog, which likely came before this error message. There should be additional information with the detail. The dialog will tell you what devices are having a problem. That is the one you need to get a new driver for.

Once you fixed the driver(s) mentioned with detail, the error will no longer persist.

Hope this helps!

Microsoft informed me that it lies with the manufacturer of your computer. In my case its Gateway. Gateway must update a driver that controls your update to Windows 10 version 1803. Gateway will do this at a price.

This is nonsense.  Microsoft didn't inform you of anything, and no manufacturer makes you pay for drivers.  Good bye.

NO NO PLEASE DON'T GET A MAC PLEASE NO!

Good riddance.  Please go bung up the Apple message boards and stay out of this one.

I have this error also 0xc1900101, I pressed the pause update for 35 days. Should be enough time to order a mac book pro.

And nobody said that I can't reactivate the Intel Virtualization Technology anymore. If I do so, my computer hangs while trying to start Windows. Even the recovery feature have stuck (it tried to activate automatically after a second restart). I deactivated again that IVT and the computer started just fine.

In my case I don't need IVT, but for some of you (with virtual OSs) it can be a show stopper.

    Hi,

I can't really tell which of the below helped, but I managed to  install the update, after several tries where I also had that 0xc1900101 error message

    • I deactivated that Intel Virtualization in BIOS (as read on this forum thread) and started manually the upgrade from Microsoft update site.
    • During installing I observed that my antivirus raised some warnings and blocked the access to some of system files. So I also deactivated it during that install

Install went fine to the end. Hope that helps some of you.

    Mihai
