Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4103721 Version 1803

This update has some serious issues, specifically. Do NOT install this update after updating to Windows 10 version 1803. It will prevent your computer from booting up. I am stuck on the spinning circle for a long time. I have to use a Windows 10 USB to boot into the Troubleshooting and use Command Prompt to boot into safe mode. Please fix this update!

I discovered that if you installed a program from Iobit (like Driver Booster, for example) it creates a service called "LiveUpdate" with full name, as I remember, "LiveUpdateSvc".

Even if you remove the program the service will remain and this cause the KB4103721 update to fail to boot Windows after the update.

Uninstall all Iobit programs and remove the service from the administrator command prompt typing "sc delete LiveUpdateSvc" (check it is the correct service name) and then you will be updating Windows without any problem.

I experienced this issue on two computers and this has been the solution.

    Soweit es Utilities IOBIT betrifft, kann ich bei einem zweiten Rechner bestätigen,

    dass es dort beim zweiten Anlauf am 10.05.2018 bei dem Update von KB 4103721

    mit Uninstaller Pro, Driver Booster Pro, Smart Defrag free und Malware Figther free keine Probleme gab.

    Das Update ist ohne Fehler mit diesen Utilities durchgelaufen.

    You need to try it several times, press F8 regularly, after a few times rebooting it should work, for my Dell Laptop it took about 6-10 times until it is working as sometimes he will also start a Dell diagnosis if you press at the wrong time.

    After this I go into save mode reboot - choose save mode only. Then he will uninstall the update. Unfortunately I need to do this procedure twice until he really removed the update and I can work again.

    The somewhere here mentioned trick with downloading and installing the update manually resulted in the same issue, thats why I had to go through all this again.

    Really a big fail for MS, why they can not implement an easy error or timeout check in their updates? This should be the most basic failure preventation. I will from now on block all updates and make manual updates every 6 months or so when I don't need the computer. It's really not acceptable that with every update a whole working day might be lost.

    The whole update policy is not acceptable for people who need their computer for serious things. Seems like MS still thinks all the people only playing with their computer and enroll updates too easy, high quantity, low quality.
