windows update

Progress, maybe?  It didn't heckle me for an update all day yesterday, and then when I went to shut down last night I got a choice between "Shut Down" and "Update and Shut Down" which I've never seen before.  Shutting down took forever, so I gave up, let it percolate and went to bed.  When I turned my laptop on this morning it told me it was installing an update and not to turn the computer off.  I haven't seen that since March, even when trying to install the update manually.  When that finished and I was able to turn the machine on, I got a page welcoming me to the "April" update.  I am cautiously optimistic and will report in a few days either way.

Before I ran the May 1803 update, I ran this .bat:

It is pretty surprising that Microsoft apparently has yet to fix the update problem. I guessed the May update might have taken care of it. Maybe the June update?????

It's actually gotten worse.  The constant nagging to do the update became fairly quiescent around mid-May.  I checked the update history, and I still didn't have the damn thing, but at least it wasn't restarting every hour or so.  However, since this past Tuesday, it's back to continually trying to update.  I tried (again) the manual solutions suggested earlier in this thread and got nowhere.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. It appears that MR. Gates team don't care about us, the lowly users who are foolish enough to stay brand loyal to Microsoft. This is just ridiculous!

Right? My husband has had this ongoing since March, I just bought a new laptop and am running into the same problems. MS need to get their backside's in gear and get a solution for their users.
