OneDrive automatically deleting files from OneDrive folder

The OneDrive forum appears to have been locked, so I am trying this one.

I moved some large files (photos) to my OneDrive folder to share between PCs and left them synchronising.  When I came back to check on their progress, the files had disappeared from the PCs.  Looking at the OneDrive window it shows them being added to Onedrive then mysteriously being removed a few minutes later.  What on earth is going on?    I tried Ctrl & Z to see if it could undo the removal.  The files looked as if they were being restored - but just disappeared again.  It's a good job I noticed, otherwise I could have lost these files forever.  I can't afford to have my important files just disappearing like that.

Hi Greg, Microsoft deleted all my files. They said I reached the max and my account was frozen. Why would they delete all my files? I lost 7 years and thousands of family photos that I expected in OneDrive storage. The motto is OneDrive Is Always Available, On Your Time here.

https://account.microsoft.com/account/onedrive. They recommended that I login once a year. I am certain I did, however I did have cancer 2 years ago and that kept me from focusing on logging into pictures. Can you advise, I am certain that Microsoft keeps a backup, especially in considerations of legal or circumstances where someone has a health issue. Thank you,

    >Is Microsoft tone deaf

On OneDrive flaws maybe but as the Edge development team found out, Microsoft isn't adverse to abandoning an entire product if it's just not hacking it. As the Edge team found out when Microsoft announced it was abandoning the Edge rendering engine in favour of Chromium.

IMO all of the problems in OneDrive are due to deficiencies in the core sync engine and how it tracks changes.
