Your PIN is no longer available

I am unable to login into my computer (windows 10). I get the message “your pin is no longer available due to a change the security settings on this device. You can set up your pin again by going to settings/accounts/siding options.”  There are no other options for signing in. Does anyone know what to do to login?

Same here, ended up having to hold down Shift key as I clicked Restart from the power icon in corner of log in screen.  Then selected Reset PC/keep personal files.

I can't open with my fingerprint as well (and still can't)! In the end with this happened to me, I had to wipe my computer and do a hard reset.

    Solution:

    Error:

“your pin is no longer available due to a change the security settings on this device.

    Situation:

your login screen does not show an option to use password, only pin or other biometric option but you are caught in the above error loop with every option you try to access or change values

    Steps:

At login screen hold down left shift click power->restart.

Then on choose option screen - troubleshoot->advanced->startup settings->restart.

At the menu after reboot choose option 1- debug

At this login screen change my pin should work for you.

Note: the source of my issue was secure-boot related. But that is too pc vender specific to address here. These steps allowed me to fix the windows part of it without a pc reset.

Wow, another monumental FAIL from the new, modern Microsoft. So far, after Windows updates I've lost the use of my Bluetooth mouse (still works with all other computers, BT radio works), use of SD card reader (driver error out of the blue), now microphone device has disappeared (just isn't there), and after latest update I can't log in to my device. Wonderful! And after spending hours researching on the internet and finding a hack to maybe remedy the situation (delete some files) you discover that even after taking ownership, and being an administrator, you just can't delete those files. FUBAR. Been using PCs my whole life, hated my work Mac, but now it feels pretty amazing compared to this. BTW. resetting your device and Windows - doesn't fix this BUG.
