My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK

Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).

In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible

Access is denied. -OK

Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Hi Thirut,

Open Windows File Explorer

On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'

C:\users\Default\

Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder

Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile

Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder

Restart (not shut sown) your PC

    To JoeHancock and IainSelkirk

I cannot possibly guarantee this will work for others but when faced with  identical Desktop unavailable message about six weeks ago these are the steps that worked for me (after endless searching for a solution that took days of research).

I'm ready to try to help anyone who shows they have tried to follow the same procedure. Sorry, as non-techie, I can't extend this help to those who haven't!

Just adding my voice to the angry mob...

You can add me to this as well. At least twice I suffered MS spinning my hard drive for hours on end because of update troubles, as well as having to slap around one of those loser shills who creates posts in favor of Microsoft. And now I have this problem and no solution yet (at least as of posting time).

The ONLY thing I could find to work is to factory reset it. how?  I honestly dont know.

My dad factory reset my laptop for me.

You have a wonderful patient Dad. I am a Dad and so  patient with Microsoft anymore.
