I am unable to install The Windows 10 Feature update to OS version 1803(from version 1709) on my PC.
It is giving 0xc1900101 error. I have all the latest drivers on my PC. The current OS build of my PC is 16299.371.
After each failure, the update gets downloaded again and it has failed 5 times.
I would be grateful if someone could please help.

There is a possibility to hide the Updates by Microsoft:
There you can download the small Microsoft tool: wushowhide.diagcab
In that way you can avoid annoying restarts without any positive result.

I had trouble stopping some of the services. However taskkill /f /pid [PID] worked.
Also I could not rename catroot2 no matter what I tried. I ended up running rename on boot software (free) and that worked
You mean Microsoft should actually worry about the little guys along with the big corporate money makers that spend millions on their crap? Yeah, like THAT is ever going to happen. Like I said, MS solution, bury it after three out of four online techs assured me three times they could "fix it.". The fourth one (Second Level Tech) finally admitted it wasn't going to happen. Yet he offered me nothing, I was the one who asked him if he could tell my computer not to even see that update. And you KNOW the NEXT update it's going to need something from the hidden update to install.
.... "Microsoft please step up and resolve these issues once and for all, you have a responsibility to do so!" ....

I am very angry for it.
One of the computers that is giving me fits is a stock Gateway from about five years ago. The other is a custom rig that is under two years old. The upgrade troubleshooter shot nothing, and the upgrade assistant was of no assistance.
I, too, had Microsoft remotely control my machine and tell it to hide the update. That didn't seem to last, however. It started trying to install that update several weeks later.
I did find an option to freeze update installation for 35 days. I'll need to keep an eye on that.
Soooo glad that I finally decided to block 1803 in June using metered connection option .
Unless Microsoft publicaly admit there is a problem, and give a formal solution then I am staying at 1709. Although actually, my Win 10 machine is now gathering dust. This update from my Windows 7 machine.
