Can't preview jpg files in the preview pane -- Windows 10 Fall Update (1709)

Finally found the solution.

Now that Windows 10 has nearly removed the old Control Panel; several items which are only available via the Control Panel are harder to find.

Open the old Control Panel; type into the Win10 Search Field "Control Panel" and then click the result to Open it. Make sure the Categories option is set; then click on Appearance and Personalisation; then File Explorer Options.

A new window will open -- click on the View tab.

The first choice "UNCHECK" Always show icons, never thumbnails.

I have now also found this same setting in the View Menu of Windows 10 File Explorer. At the far right-side of the header ribbon after clicking on the View Tab is an icon labelled Options.

Clicking this -- select the first choice "Change Folder and Search Options. A new window opens. Click on the View Tab; then again UNCHECK the first choice "Always show icons, never thumbnails."

At last! Instead of wasting my time barking up the wrong tree with unnecessary, inaccurate, non-resolutions, I was able to fix the issue in seconds. Thanks, Jay_Brisbane

I just have to give you a BIG THANK YOU!  I am a designer - upgraded to a new laptop and the latest versions of everything.  Reinstalled my Sage Thumbs so I could see .psd, .ai, etc images on my thumbnails and everything was fine until I realized my preview pane images were small.  Not the size of the pane.  And even smaller than the LARGE Icons! 

HOURS, registry edits, uninstalls, reinstalls and countless googles and nothing was fixing it.  Then I saw your post.  I didn't believe it would make a difference - but this was the magic fix!!  Who would have thought that this had anything to do with the preview pane!    Regardless - I thank you a million times over!

There is an easy solution for this. Copy (not cut) the images without preview and paste them back in the same folder. Now you will get the preview and can delete the originals.

Yes this is the only recommendation which has fixed this issue - why won't Microsoft fix the problem? The issue has been around for two years!

Why is the answer always file system check / dism now adays. It makes me feel Microsoft agents don't have any indepth knowledge of the operating system. Or they do, and are just not wanting to share with the rest of us.
